since you requested recs before, check out insania if you haven't, more cool euro power from that year. also virus, given you like ved buens ende. and the doomsword, i probs prefer it to the bathory or morrigan although i haven't heard the latter in ages, i should get on that. you may find the axis of perdition album interesting if you like blut aus nord (or alternatively just listen to some sonic youth lol)

I actually did listen to the Doomsword but thought it was kinda boring and didn't like it even enough to include it in my HMs.

The Morrigan is overlong and inconsistent, but it's such a fucking masterpiece of texture sometimes. The way the soaring vocals contrast with the almost Deathcult-like cacophony of the guitars in songs like "Giants of Stone" is fucking sublime and maybe the most beautiful thing I've heard all year. If it did that more often it'd be #1 on my list.

I have no idea how anyone could rank Celts over Nordland II, oh well (I think Celts is great btw).

My favorite Morrigan song is actually Dead Forever from the split with Nocternity.

I'd agree with him for 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2009. But then I am an unashamed The Chasm fanboy.

Right? I'm not normally into brutal death metal but that album is just so damn badass. Maybe superficial but so much fun to listen to.

I had tried Angel of Salvation a few times and so far it hasn't registered as more than pretty good, but I just listened to The Flag of Punishment for the first time last week and liked it a lot, much riffier and more aggressive. What would be the next Galneryus album to go for with that in mind?

idk, the only other album with Yama-B I've listened to is Advance to the Fall which is alright, it opens with probably the best song they ever recorded but kinda flags after that.

That's a tough choice, Scald are easily one of my all-timers without a doubt, but Bathory are closer to my heart. Also, Scald have doom metal elements which change the situation in terms of my mood dictating what I feel like hearing at any given time.
