GMD Poll: Top 10 Metal Albums of 1983

i like power games, not enough to include it tho

i guess hellhammer would've made the top 10 pretty comfortably if everyone was counting demos?

Incidentally @no country for old wainds, I'm very surprised you would rank Piece of Mind above your beloved Show No Mercy. What happened to the Maiden-hater who once said;
i have always maintained that [dickinson-era maiden] are the original 'fakes', instilling sacharrine emotional pointers into fundamentally light-hearted anthems; emotional heavy metal for people who'd be upset by the real thing.

Did you have a change of heart or have you always liked Piece of Mind especially?

the former mostly haha. i posted in another thread (maybe on RYM actually) that i was a dumbass about bruce-era maiden for like ten years but they sound so much better to me now, almost sounds like a different band. part of it is that i first had a lot of exposure to maiden at a time when i wasn't very receptive to trad i guess, i needed to get past my superficial negative perception of them or something. i'm glad i have done!

Probably more a matter of the influence of Dodens grav fading over time.

i freely admit i used to be easily swayed by two users here but pls get your facts straight fag0t and stop these offensive claims that dodens was one of them. my formative years here were before he even registered, we had no respect for one another and i like to think i was one of the reasons he fucked off from this board. i was actually the high priest of demiurge and falconsbane's beautiful anusite union. you'd probably have liked demiurge actually, he was a sociopath with aspergers who used to post about the torture porn VHSs he was buying on the black market.

This got me unnecessarily excited about 1983 and I spent some time checking out stuff like Manilla Road and Satan that I never bothered with before.
