GMD Poll: Top Ten Albums of 1990

It's not that it exactly sounds like RIP, it's just that it's in that melodic technical vein of thrash that's still catchy/hooky and more flashy than proggy. If I'm being honest, it's basically just RtL/MoP with Middle-Eastern scales all over.

And Back in the Trash is easily as excellent as anything on RIP.

Killer is my favorite by a good margin (and a top 5 Riot song for me overall), but that one is great too. Cut out all the filler intros and the ballad and the album gets a lot stronger.

This was the end of the big thrash era as we knew it, and just a step away from the end of metal's mainstream appeal. Ears would have to start straying into the underground "extreme" ends to find metal springing anew. Still a lot of good stuff here though.
