yeah vip is essential...it didn't make my list cause l don't own a physical copy of it. lm anal like that. maybe l should not be.
but you know how l love the stench right...dead are basically another branch of the stench family tree to me..absolutely killer
the rot album l know and have on a playlist somewhere but i'm not as familiar with them
lets not forget decomposing serenity's blood-soaked dragonflies and fairy dust from this year also or vomitorial corpulence - skin stripper - an ace as fuck release even tho it is christian bs - both aussie you backwater bastard
* That's respectable, I'm the same way with only listing stuff I own or in some rare cases used to own but still have ripped to my PC. Honestly that's why there's no Primordial, Opeth or The Chasm in my lists.
With the Decomposing Serenity demo, even though I don't own anything by him (but obviously I know the band, Aussie legend), I have decided to not include any demos or EPs in my lists with the exception of Reverend Bizarre's
Harbinger of Metal EP since it's longer than the average full length lol.
I don't know the other band you mentioned though.
Adagio is a fantastic album, one of their best. Not to play psychologist or anything, but I know they were really disappointed with how Downfall turned out which is probably why they felt the need to up their game on Adagio. Now I really like Downfall and have always been quick to defend it but Adagio knocks it out of the park in pretty much every department be it songwriting, riffs, vocals, production, ect... Some of their finest songs are to be found on it, Never, Mental Pictures, Insanity's Circles, Lament (really love Lowe's phrasing on that one), Spiral Descent. If I do make a list its sure to be near the top.
Well said man,
Adagio has always been tied with
Beyond the Crimson Horizon for my favourite Solitude Aeturnus album. Lately, and especially after this 1998 round,
Adagio has been drifting closer to the top spot. It just gets everything right and then some.
Alone is criminally underrated though.
Hopefully you do decide to make a list so
Adagio can get some more well-deserved love and representation.
Edit: Beat me to the punch! Great list!
Yeah, it's the production of Adagio that gets my attention. Big doomy sound with clear vocals. Different enough to the earlier stuff to land on the right side of my absurd pickiness.
Well that's fair enough. Any chance you've heard their album
Alone? That's most likely going to be in the upper 5 of my 2006 list. Fucking fantastic album with a nice similar booming
Adagio-style production, but musically probably a level below it in quality.
