Good black metal productions ?

I like it a bit rawer than most examples above for the style you're referring to. Some examples of albums I consider having a good production for black metal:
Ulver - Bergtatt (style is somewhat similar to Wolves in the Throne room, so check this one out)
Enslaved - RUUN,
Deathspell Omega - Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice and the albums thereafter.
Primordial - To the Nameless Dead,
Gorgoroth - ad majorem satanhas gloriam,
Armagedda - Ond Spiritism (guitars are a bit too thin though),
Trelldom - Til Minne (for those who like guitars with mids, mids and some more mids ),

Probably a lot of people here will hate most of these productions

Great selection!

@ Seizure: You'd be getting soooo much shit from pseudo gatekeepers of trveness for mentioning Endstille as an example for "real" black metal haha. ;)

Speaking of not black metal (at least this album) :loco: Fucking love it though, and the production is so deliciously raw and roaring, and the emotion and power in the singer's voice is honestly unmatched IMO, absolutely incredible! And I'm sure this will give many people lulz, but honestly, it's about the rawest I can tolerate in terms of album production :D

Yeah primordial and Enslaved are definitely not typical black metal, although both have some black metal influences. I was talking about productions that would suit this style of black metal though.

Big +1 on the To the Nameless Dead love btw. Primordial seem to be one of those few bands that get better with each album, instead of worse

Keep Of Kalessin - Kolossus (the best black metal band IMO, and I don't like RAW or badly produced black metal, so fuck off if you people do :p)
Keep Of Kalessin - Armada
Mayhem - Chimera (their only technical black metal album, also their only well-produced album)

Here's my favorite song of that Mayhem album:

And here are some songs from Kolossus

Check out "Renihilation" by Liturgy. Not sure if this is too raw for you, but I dig it a lot. Quite raw, but still solid production by modern standards. There is some clipping going on, but I think this is intentional. I've been really into these guys lately. They look like hipsters but play some pretty solid black metal and are quite good live. ;-)

Sounds horrible, man, you can't even tell the guitars from the cymbals.

i like the tone on the new belphegor:), andy classen did a good job, as he did on the graveworm albums
but i admit the music is not so good this time, "der geistertreiber" is just plain ridiculous

some great albums were already mentioned
huge +1 to
emperor - anthems to the welkin at dusk
darkspace - dark space III
moonsorrow - chapter V
those are most atmospheric, anthems is beautiful, my favourite album

some may say that they're not black metal, but dimmu productions are always awesome, if you like peter tägtgren's sound you can also check out enslaved - blodhemn

i also like the production on the anaal natrakh albums

naglfar - diabolical is also good

Watain-Sworn to the dark
Marduk-Wormwood
The legion-Unseen to Creation

And my fav BM prod from Wieslawski bro:

Vesania-Firefrost Arcanum and God the lux

Windir. Especially Arntor has an amazing atmosphere. Check out Drudenhaus by Anorexia Nervosa too.

Grand Declaration of War and Ordo Ad Chao are just as technical as Chimera is, and GDoW has just as good production as Chimera does.
