Good black metal productions ?

That was pretty legit. Why are they associated with the core scene? :puke:

well their older material was total core-esque material, breakdowns, whiny clean vocal parts, on their newest releases they've gone completely black metal... guess they were trying to pull the jfac thing, 'lets got all the core kids to love us and get us huge then make the music we really wanna make'

Sons of Northern Darkness is pretty good, as is Lord Belial's Seal of Belial (?). Abigail Williams and Dimmu (if they count as bm) are also legendary.

I listened to Ordo Ad Chao and felt it was nothing compared to Chimera, and it sounded like shit :/. I haven't given a proper listen to Grand Declaration Of War

It's not technical in the essence of Chimera where there's a lot going on at once, but more-so technical in the "hey lets play some dissonant riffs for the fuck of it, then start droning, then more dissonance." It's hard to explain but I felt like Ordo Ad Chao was their version of a Blut Aus Nord/Deathspell Omega-influenced record.

The production was intentionally shitty. I think they said they wanted it to be more "raw", I felt like it fit it perfectly for that murky atmosphere (but any other album it wouldn't have worked.)

GDoW has great production, on-par with Chimera really. I love that album but many people don't as it was a gigantic departure for them.
