Good BM, Good Production

BM is always easy target to laugh for the producers/mixers whom prefer the standard Century Media-sound over a bit more chaotic/non-standard sound.

Personally my fave producer/mixer is Tore Stjerna:

And a lot of other stuff...

Diabolical Masquerade is fantastic. Production isn't amazing, but it sounds much better than the kvlt black metal stuff. Highly recommend any of the albums.

Did someone say Belphegor?

Production could be better, but also worse. Modern classic! :D

I love Marduk's Wormwood, haven't listened to the new one enough (Serpent Sermon) to fully judge the production, but it's obviously better than some of the trendy lo fi shit certain black metal fans love.

Only the intro is symphonic, the rest is ridiculously awesome BM.

(smashed to fuck, but still good IMO)

And if you've always like the idea of black metal but not the production, then \/this\/, is an absolute must. (re-recording of what is possibly the greatest BM album ever)

The drum performance is very, very sterile and clinical compared to the original, however if it's a stepping stone to you listening to the original then I wholeheartedly recommend it.
