way to leave out words, Tindor. How about Children of Bodom? Do they count? I was going to suggest Theory in Practice, but I see you have already heard them. How about Gorguts? They aren't really as much technical as chaotic, but they are in the same vein.
Originally posted by phon1c most of these bands dont seem to be technical death metal to me, except cryptopsy. I'd say necrophagist for sure, and decapitated.
Just because they are top-notch doesn't classify the band as technical death metal. I think Peter Wichers and Ola Frenning make an awesome guitar tandem, but Soilwork isn't technical death metal. Same with Mike and Peter from Opeth.
Exactly. Technical death metal isnt just "death metal thats hard to play", it's death metal with odd timings (weird time sigs, syncopation etc), and often with use of dissonance.
I guess then what you are talking about here is proggresive music or proggresive bands not technical, being a top notch guitarrist means that you are a technical guitarrist but if you wanna talk about all the aspects of the music (tempo changes, time signatures etc)then talk about proggresive music not technical. What I meant with darkane being technical is that they have two technical guitarrists.
oh and btw I agree with you blaze Ola and Peter are Indeed awesome
Cynic, Suffocation and Cryptopsy are probably the best of the technical death bunch i'd say. If you could call Nile technical then put them on the list too, because they rule.
