good technical death metal

What's the deal with Darkane, anyway? Their singer sounds just like Burton C Bell from Fear Factory. The vocalist aside, they don't seem too bad-- but they're no Soilwork.

all i have to say is...

gorguts - obscura!!!

i discovered this album recently and it is one of the few cds i can truly call "progressive" or "technical" (i too prefer "progressive" despite its spacey connotations; "technical" is too close to sterile and clinical for me). Anyway try that album, its a mindbending experience. Great riffs, kind of like next generation morbid angel riffs or something, if that makes sense...

Yeah man, Darkane is sooo technical, along with Spiritual Beggars, In Flames, Bloodbath, Dimmu Borgir....oh and let's not forget the godfathers of ultra mindblowing technical death metal, Sentenced......

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

oh btw Ian keep on the ''Opeth best band ever attitude'' it serves you well:rolleyes:

Dude, I was just fucking with you. I like Darkane a lot and wouldn't ever put them in the same category as the other band's I mentioned. I wouldn't ever call them technical metal, though. Also, when have I ever said the best band ever is Opeth? They are one that I quite enjoy, but I wouldn't say they're the best.

oh my bad sorry, I think i took things too seriously (you didn't put the rolleyes that's why:lol: ) the opeth best band ever thing was a sarcastic comment don't take it seriously. Again my bad

Definitely check out Gorguts... Blows your mind away with it's technicality. Also Exivious are quite much like Cynic. Also I would recommend Voivod's Phobos. Not really death metal but some of the elements are there. Like taking a death metal approach to King Crimson and the like.

And Darkane are not technical nor are they death metal.

Cephalic Carnage! It's more of grindcore, but they are definatly a different band.
and yeah I definatly agree with the Gorguts posts.
also Suffocation, Cryptopsy, and Dying Fetus are pretty coo

Darkane are technical. why? becasue the drummer uses alots of backwards playing and alot of jazz rythms. he is a master on drums and he can play alot of more tecchnical things than shit drummer in other band you guys mentioned.
He is fast, he likes weird drumming forward, backward right in your ass he twist the drumsticks more techincal than the just fastplaying shitdrummers out there.

Since there are probably a few people here who haven't heard Cynic's Roadrunner demo, I thought I'd do my good deed for the day and post the url:
http://www.metalprovider.com/cynic/

Basically the 3 track demo that landed Cynic their Roadrunner deal. It includes previous heavier versions of The Eagle Nature, and Uroboric Forms, as well as a track that never made it to the Focus album which is one of my favourites: Pleading for Preservation.

If you want technical death metal it doesn't get much better than this ;)
