got outta work early, and saw it in the mailbox. got up stares and read it cover to cover. I must say Paul, there is some very personal stuff in there and I would like to thank you for sharring it with us all. At one point I actually got the lump in the throat and almost teary. the part about your wife's surgery, that fucked me up. It's funny how we just think differently when we are parents. Anyway, I also realized how similar we are in quite a few ways as far as writting and thinking. And sometimes even the back pain (I know yours is 1000X's worse than mine), But being a Bricklayer, I sometimes lay 100 pound blocks all day, and come home and want to die from the back pain. Another thing I can relate to with your book, was the part about not bonding for the first few months with your girl, That happened to me as well. The first 3 months were very hard for me between the crying/first few teeth and the fact that she was/is still breast feeding. In the beginning, you are pretty much chopped liver lol. If you don't have the booby, they want nothing to do with you, at first. So I was all bummed out and was taking it hard, until (and I rememmber the exact moment) one night we were sleeping(she sleeps with us, I know bad habit) But she woke up and was chocking, I could see the fear in her little eyes, and i was overcome with fear myself, I raised her hands over head and pressed on her back, and she looked up at me and the releif in her eyes was just followed by the sweetest smile ever. And at that moment, she knew she was safe and wrapped her little arms around me and fell asleep. that's what it's all about too!!!!

I guess what I am saying is, (before my as always rant), it was great to know That I have someone I can relate to man.

In the mid 90's, I went through the whole heart being ripped from your chest thing, and Used (my then solo project) shroud of bereavement as a way to get over that. I actually wrote and entire concept album about her lol. Also, my best friend dying, without my music, i would never have gotten through that one. My grandfather and grandmother both passed on in the last couple years, and I was going to write a song for them, and opted not too, but did use that deppression as inspiration. I can totally relate man. Thanks!

Very cool Dan, I'm glad you enjoyed the book! It was pretty easy for me to write it all down, and more difficult now that's it's released knowing I opened myself up like that. I'm glad people like you appreciate it, because that's who I wrote it for!

I listened to Swallowed By The moon today for the first time since reading the book. Amazing....

Thank you Paul for sharing yourself this way. I had no idea about your physical problems, but knowing now, I hope you can find comfort in your child and in the wonderful music you guys create. I got my package the day before I had to leave for Dallas for a week to train for a new job, leaving my wife and two girls behind. Those were some rough days for sure, but reading this and listening to the new cd were highlights of my time spent in the hotel. I just realized yesterday when I went to grab the new cd to listen to that I had the case, but I left the cd in the complimentary cd player in the room and had to go buy a replacement at FYE today, so there's a soundscan for ya! lol...

Now if I could just get my hand on real copies of the first two cds. I haven't even seen them on ebay at ridiculous prices as of late.....

Yeh I really want these cds too...cant you guys re-release them or sumthin? or is the demand not great enough?

It's not really a bad thing to have sold out of your albums. I am sure that if the demand is there they will be re-pressed! The only actual release that I don't have from ND is The very first version of Mirth. I would like to have the origional just for my collection.

The AvantGarde/Nuclear Blast version of "Amid..." pops up occasionally on Ebay, you can usually get it for a fair price if you catch it.

To some degree, most labels have their bands by the balls haha! But I mean, it's the nature of the beast really. Those labels pay for the recording and manufacturing of the albums so they do have the right to control them, at least depending on the terms of the contract involved. The bands themselves usually have little say or control over things like that, especially when the cds go out-of-print. Very rarely does an artist want to see their material go out of print (unless they're embarassed by it LOL)

If the demand for our old cds becomes strong enough, I'm sure they'll resurface again someday, somehow. We'll see what happens.

I just throw it in this thread ok?

IT ARRIVED TODAY!!..just a few hours ago..:hotjump:..A huge package which contains the Limited Edition package of TNR :D ...the new Pain of Salvation "Scarsick" and 10 compilation cd's of all sorts of Metal.. :)
I'll make a picture of the whole thing and post it soon.. ;)

I got the book and the album awhile ago and finished reading it yesterday. I got my friend to buy it too by impulse and he totally digs the CD. He read the book too and enjoyed it. I like the part when you were talking about the lyrics for "Lost in a Day" from "To Welcome the Fade"...I identified with the lyrics because I've been dealing with some "endless deep thinking" issues that only lives me being a rat on a spinning wheel, a constant circle with no end...just making me miserable. Hahah...yeah. I really love the book and pick it up everyday, I didn't even expect you to explain every song...that is awesome. the pages are beautiful

Ok I'm resurrecting this thread because I know a lot of people ordered the book & enough time has passed where people can comment on it. Paul worked very hard on this project & I think feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!!!! He wouldn't even let me read it until it was completely finished. Lets here it people !!!!!!!!!!!!:Smokin:

Still haven't got the book.
Are you bringing it to Europe in November?
I would like to buy one.:)

I've been meaning to write something up about the book but keep forgetting to. I ordered it from the website a month or so ago. I also read it cover to cover the night it showed up and was blown away by a lot of the personal stories that inspired Paul's lyrics. It takes a lot of balls to put your thoughts and emotions out there for everyone to dissect and often criticize, especially as detailed as it gets throughout the book. I didn't get a chance to tell Paul personally at the Alehorn show and congratulate him on a very cool piece of band and even personal history and having the guts and fortitude to put himself out there for everyone to see. It was an interesting read, and a very cool companion to the band's music for any fan.

I ordered To Welcome The Fade a few weeks ago and sat down one night last week with the book and the album playing on my headphones. It was quite a trip to really dig in deep with that disc, and the same goes for the two latest releases as well.

Two thumbs up from me. :headbang:

Ok,I'll try..know that it aint an easy thing for me to do for several reasons, and don't start about my grammar or spelling..I'm quite aware it sucks!

Now..a few of you people posting here know I'm a lyric fanatic..I truly am!
So if one was waiting eagerly to read The wayfaring Chronicles,it was ME!!
Why? Cause I for one was very curious to find out what the meaning was behind several songs from several albums..so I'd like to thank both Paul and Arline for coming out and bring this into the open, their are not many people out there who dare to do the same, much respect!

For me personal to read the book is somewhat difficult, because as I see it we all recognize a little bit of ourselves and the rough times we're going through in live thru the book.
Like Paul is battling his own disease, others battle their demons each in their own ways, as you all may know or not know,me and my family are going thru some rough times ourselves atm..it's horrible to see a young 17 year old gorgeous girl battling for her life going thru chemo after chemo treatment, while she's suposed to have fun and hang out with her friends her age.
I'm a single mother myself I got two beautiful teenagers a son of almost 17 and metalhead, and a lovely girl of almost 15 who's more into poppy songs..they are my live!
And as Arline pointed out in another thread,I'm also aware the effect children have on you going thru rough times, they are the ones that keep you moving on,and I learned a long, long time ago material things don't matter..nothing else matters, only the ones we deeply love!
I find alot of comfort in reading The Wayfaring I just pick it up when I feel sad or whatever emotion I'm going thru at a particular moment... also I need music..everyday!
I remember I handed over the book to my son's girlfriend and while she was reading she bursted out in tears..it was so touching..and i've told her she shouldn't cry,I told her it took guts to write something so personal...and to try to make something possitive out of something negative..like for Paul who sees it as a therapy to write it down,we can put hope and faith out of his lyrics and book...and that's exactly what we do! ;)

The album is great!!..with "Rain" "Twilight Innocence" and "Leaving This" being my absolute favorite songs on the album..
Technical wise..I can't say anything, cause I know shit about shredding guitars or riffs or I dunno what you guys call it..not because I'm not interested in it,I just don't understand it..one thing I can say about it is..I love how it sounds faster..and heavier! and you guys the musicians did an outstanding job!
As for Paul's vocals..do I honestly need to say more!!..

I'm looking forward to see you all back again soon in a few months! :)

I love the way you've made the book so personal. Its rather comforting to know that someone else as been through similar situations, thoughts and feelings. Good stuff Paul!

I think the book is fantastic. What is really cool, is that we get to interact directly with the band here on this forum, and see how much of the bands' lives directly influence their music. Taking the time to write it all down, and open up so much, just shows us how passionate ND are.

Funny how we hear a song, and get our own ideas and images about it, yet not be intended those ways. Guess that is why peoples opinions differ on songs and albums...

Well done, Paul, well done. :headbang:
