Greatest Rock Bands Of All Time?

Jesus christ razoredge, the Eagles are terrible. If anything they belong on a "worst classic rock bands" list.

I only know Hotel California by them, and even that song has been overplayed to death. Bland/meat and potatoes rock is kinda boring, to be honest. There's got to be some sting, quirk in the music for me to want to return to it. Some prog maybe, just not too much

Yeah Hotel California is bland as hell, and from what I've heard of them that was among their high points.

See now Varis you are getting toward my point. While you may think the Eagles "were terrible", they have been one of the most successful straight forward rock bands, why ? because they appeal to the masses of domestics that just dont want heavy, hard, or progressive.

Myself I like the Eagles music, its from my more youthful era. I dont own any, why bother it was radio music and I have enjoyed it on the radio decades ago. They had plenty of songs on the radio, Peaceful Easy Feeling is about the first that comes to mind, if thats even the title. I loved Hotel California, such a cleaverly written song and epic hooky guitar work... played to death, yes but great song in its inception.

Oh and "bland" doesnt cut in unless you want to illustrate a mental bandwidth of []

Gulp much do ya Tom Brady

I have little doubt one day your favorite underground bands will have the bank account to prove the Eagles inferiority but till then its all []

well at one time we called it tunnel vision so thats seemed appropriate.

I was refering to the song Hotel California = bland reference in particular, not that most A typical rock was not bland, that is why its so domestically appreaciated.

While its not particulary edgy if you listen to the song closely which now would have to be as if for the first time, it really was a well written song with many cleaver points throughout. I know I would have been quite impressed with myself if something like that had rolled out of me... so would my bank account.

I place Hotel California on a shelf along side Stairway to Heaven and Hendrixs song "Bold as Love" which is rarely if ever recogonized. Just songs I knew the first time I listen to them that they nailed it, something special happened. There are others but somehow these three songs seemed to be more inline with each other as a whole.

To me The Eagles are a one-hit band, alongside the likes of The Animals and Europe. I'm just not familiar with anything else they've written.

please scroll down to where it says singles

You have never heard the song Desperado ? Not a single, not a hit, gets plenty of FM air play over the years but personally touched home with many people. Great song, might have had to live in the simplier times of this country, when it was more country and people were less focued on "what sucks"... who knows.

The Eagles suck ass man. Seriously. One of the worst bands I've heard.

King's X is decent. Seems like a more proper combination of Nickelback and Audioslave.

The only thing good about The Eagles is Joe Walsh's guitar skillz.

Get Over It is a decent song and sadly one of their only good songs. The only considerably good song they made is "Life In The Fast Lane".

Im not twisting anybodys words, dont know where you got that from. Im only displaying the problems with white washing everything as simply "rock"

Again, no-one here is trying to claim that hip-hop, classical, disco, folk or any other non-rock genre is rock. The fact that you're trying to claim that they are is you twisting people's words, geddit? Rock to me is a blanket term like "metal". People use it to describe many different sub genres of rock, and that's what's happening in this thread so get over it and stop being a nit-picker. :)

Edit: Another that hasn't been mentioned - Thin Lizzy
