See, I can appreciate such things as well. The album isn't bad at all, it's simply just incredibly weak compared to the rest of their stuff. I see all that you mentioned in Empiricism (which rulesss), but I just can't find the love for Q.

Quintessence is muddy, tedious and (mostly) dull. Not that it is horrible, there is certainly much worse, but it doesn't stand up to their previous material (although I'm not all that huge on the s/t either). Very little of my beef with the album has to do with Hestnaes, obviously.

Yeah, Simen owned the vox on that album, that is not the problem. I just really can't understand how people can listen to "The Olden Domain" or "The Archaic Course" and put them below Q! It baffles the mind!

lol thanks yea it sounds really good. It was recorded/streamed as part of the Roadburn Festival so i'm sure they tried to make it sound as good as possible. I like this better than the actual album i must say
