Just wanted to wish our favourite Wildchild a happy birthday (even though it comes a little late, wasn't at home)

Hopefully he didn't break anything and keeps on doing what he's doing. :headbang:

what's so bad about it? the only thing i dont like about america is (at least where i live) there are people walking around everywhere wearing $200 jeans and a $79 shirt, they're white, and they listen to rap. pisses me off.

"yo homie G in the house lets go get it poppin and bawlin in dah hood yo!" -poser

"wow..whitest thing ever." -me

HUH??

You know Ive come to find that most people whatever genre of music they listen to are actually quite nice people

Gosh.. Be more sociable

Look who's talking... "Lady Raatikainen"
I used to be Resonate To Violate, however I changed my name to Lady_Raatikainen to poke fun at Lady_Laiho. Sorry, I have a sense of humor. I guess you didn't pick up on it.

Also, I've never gone on a fangirl rant about OMiGOd I love Jaska blah blah we're gonna get married and his love is only for me... I've never even met the dude. Don't make a haisty assumption. Nikki is the only person who knows me personally here.
And Im never gonna become like Lady_Laiho. I'm not in love with Alexi and never will be. I just like him a lot as a musician.
Never say never, child. It's an invite for irony.
Happy birthday sweetie :) I wish you whatever you want to happen and I beg you to continue making good music (tip : no more AYDY and american stuff ;) ) I love you with all my fucking heart !!! Now just go and party some more, you deserve it :) But no more bowling or climbing on cars when it's icy, k ?

And no, I'm not a fangirl.
This, dear, makes you sound like a royal kiss-ass. If he were an average random samaritan, you wouldn't give flattering him like that a second thought, unless you're into being creepily spontaneous. If I were so confident in making that post, I wouldn't feel it necessary to assure the readers that I wasn't a fangirl. Imo, I think you could've simplified it and made it of a more mature, tasteful and pleasant nature. How would you feel about someone writing that about you on the internet for all to see? I'll be nice and suppose you've met him, but I doubt you know him very personally. This screams stalker, whether you intend it to or not. He's human, not a plastic product from a factory made for entertainment.

Being sucked up to by random asshole fans is spooky, I'd know. Also I think it's rude and maybe even obnoxious to attack as if it's proper behavior given his position. It's commonplace, but not really appropriate, imo.

...and I beg you to continue making good music (tip : no more AYDY and american stuff ;) )
It's also not alluring when you go from ass-kissing to asking a guy you "like a lot as a musician" to change his style in 2005 to what you consider good in 2007, whether it's always been your taste or not.

It sounds as though you(including metal fans in general) have more of an issue with America than the type of music coming out of it. Please, have the gratitude to capitalize America.

What if they birthed a samba album? How would you take that? Ever think maybe they've become more inspired by American music than European or otherwise?

Some examples: NIN, Static-X, Slipknot, Poison, Skid Row, Motley Crue, Obituary, Devildriver, Shadows Fall, Lamb of God, Trivium, Slayer, Metallica, Death(R.I.P, Chuck), Mastodon, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Pantera, System of a Down, Sex Pistols, Antiflag, Steve Vai, Zakk Wylde, Ozzy (current band), WASP, RATT, Nirvana, Skid Row, Guns 'N' Roses, Alice in Chains, Andrew W.K., Black Label Society, Suicidal Tendencies, Anthrax, Faith No More, Alice Cooper, GWAR, and Exodus, to name a slew.

...and I beg you to continue making good music
This statement, put in context with the comment about AYDY, implies that he stopped making good music and you'd like from now on in for him to write in another style which would be more to your liking. That's rude. Simple- they'll compose what satisfies them, not anyone else.

I believe Children of Bodom is not primarily on a mission to satisfy the fans, rather for the band it is essential to produce a final product they can feel enthusiastic about. Given that, they may read what we all have to say, but in the end it doesn't mean shit. Not all musicians are striving only to surpass previous record sales.

These next paragraphs are general, not directed towards anyone particular.

MTV is basically what I think you(largely metalheads and fans of music-for-the-sake-of-music) hate. MTV found AYDY to be marketable, and made it into a well-oiled machine. The band's benefit is marginal compared to the perks the corporate ties see.

In fact, I think it's become a scene for people to pick up on the new hottest thing they see on MTV, on a wall in some store, etc. What's worse, a lot of it is a fad. One minute a new fanbase is in love with a band, and with the next new move the same band makes, the fanbase moves on to the next big thing. I'm not referring to all new fans, just those who fit this description collectively.

If you're so obsessed with keeping the band elite to a sound or within a politically correct target demographic, then you're not considering the music for what it is. Music. Regardless of what you think about AYDY, it is what it is. It's not my favorite, but it's still part of my collection and I'm not throwing a fit over CoB's evolved sound. If you don't like it, don't listen to it.

It's not yours, it's theirs. If you respect them so much as musicians, then you should support their every move and endeavor no matter what the result.

If you like Alexi as a musician, then it's suggested you like his style, ability, and flexibility foremost; and by style I mean approach to music and songwriting. I stress flexibility because I believe a fluent musician is open to playing many forms of music. An example is Oops! I Did It Again. Sure, it's ridiculous, but I'm pretty sure that was the idea. I like it, a lot. They don't take themselves too seriously, which is important in the business; and what fun is being serious all the time? Being too serious can be dangerous, and sets limits. Imo, limits are asphyxiating to a passionate artist.

If you like Alexi as a musician in respect to his "sound", I think he and no other true musician has a permanent sound. They have a current sound, a past sound, changing sounds. Some elements always serve as a player's stamp, but things change, people change, people get bored! Of course you can recognize an Alexi solo when you hear one, that's one of the things that has remained solid throughout the albums I think. Even though he has progressed as a composer and player, it's still a Bodom signature, imo.

Repetition is like an incurable disease. It's dreadful, weakening and inevitably fatal in many a form.

Music is an art, it's ever-changing and inspired. To be inspired there needs to be a brilliant spark, and something old and used can never produce a fresh spark.

A man who stays up every night until 6am(cite: SoB) is for sure not striving to satisfy anyone but himself during those hours. Beyond that, the band works to fill itself with the fuel needed to continue producing works of which it can be proud.

Cheers, and if you got this far through my tirade, you probably completely disagree, agree to some extent, or simply think I'm a crazy who uses a thesaurus ocassionally so as not to repeat herself!

Grazie,

Lady_Raatikainen :)
