:OMG:

just did a test session.
i have the multitracks from alice in chains looking in view. (please DONT ask me for the stems - they are around )
ermz and i tried them out, as they are not mastered (and probably not
even the final mix).
but we couldnt get them to sound anywhere close to randys results..

just threw them into harrison mixbus.
the tape saturation and limiters are sooo smooth. makes this thing soound huge. here is a quick comparison :
dry and roughly mixed :

just a quick a b between mixbus (slight eqing, only high and low end boosts)
and some compression (3 db gr) + tape saturation pretty hard.

i havent gotten those results in cubase that fast. i mean the raw
material lacks clarity, and mixbus brings that very fast without sounding too harsh. again this is just a quick one. its not perfect.

but go try it out! its amazing. now i need to learn how to implement
this in cubase (cause i only love mixbus for the sound... not so much for
the gui...)

Wow, those are pretty drastic differences. Whenever it switches, it goes from "meh" to "as good as done".

It's funny that you post this now. I've never heard of this DAW, but during the past week I've been trying to find out if there are ways to make Reaper work a bit more like a console, like integrating a 3band version of ReaEQ on rotary channelknobs, or doing something similar with ReaComp. I've had a project last month that had a shitload of individual tracks, and eventough every track just needed minor EQ and maybe a tad of comp, it was incredibly annoying to have to scroll through a billion tracks, open up FX windows, selecting an EQ or Comp, setting it up from scratch, etc etc etc. It just really ruined the creative process for me.

This program seems to be designed with that kind of idea in mind, and apparently sounds good too...very interesting! It's also affordable. Cool.

I do expect this to be an assault on the processingpower though. Could you elaborate on that please?

seems to be quiet good. every channel already has eq/comps engaged,
and my system is at 10%. its only 10 channels though. im not sure if mixbus is 64 bit. this would be a huge bonus.
still in love with this thing!

Cool, think I'm going to demo this then :) Only thing I'm reading that kind of puts me off is that it doesn't support VST? Ah well, could always split sessions depending on the phase of the mix. Mixbus for the EQ/Comp/Sat, and then Reaper for fancy effects and stuff or something along those lines.
