Hatecrew booklet....

Vocals are a pretty big part of most music... even more so in metal, contrary to many ppl's belief... the music would lose a lot of aggression without a vocalist. It's definitely an integral part of CoB's style. But I'm always disappointed CoB doesn't make instrumentals... esp. since Pulsation is so awesome (Alexi's instrumental on Sinergy's first album).

That can't really stand as an absolute statement man, it is relative to each individual's musical tastes. To many, vocals are very important in metal, to others they aren't, and maybe even, get in the way. I know for a fact that a lot of people dislike CoB only because of his vocals, that they actually prevent them from enjoying the majestic instrumental music that's the real uniqueness and and positively prominent aspect of CoB.

Personally I don't make that big a deal of vocals, for better or for worse, but I do think a nice instrumental or two by CoB would be more than appreciated by a large number of fans of any type of taste.

And I agree with HCD. I'm sure that, to Alexi, the music and his playing are much more important and special than the vocals he adds.

Yes, I considered added something similar to what you said to my post. But you failed to take in account one thing: if there were no vocals, the music would be -completely- different. They would never have made these songs with repeating riffs every single song with no vocals. And without all those screams, a lot of the transitions would completely lose the impact they use to have (just think about the first times you heard Mask of Sanity and Taste of My Scythe for example). See what I mean? I mean, what would Needled 24/7 be without vocals? I probably wouldn't like it. But then again if they were an instrumental band that song would've never existed. I hope you see what I mean.

Despite what a lot of ppl say about vocals in metal, without them, metal wouldn't be metal. It's part of the whole attitude and aggression. Even better example: what would the song Hate Crew Deathroll be without Alexi laying down the law? It'd still be intense but I don't think it could ever compare.
