Hey Mike, about them metal-solos

I think Mike has enough to worry about, with writing pretty much everything, plus if he were to make the metal solo's too then Fredrik would have absolutely nothing to do or to contribute, but that riff in porcelain heart.

If you've ever played a metal-type solo, you should no its not a matter of worry, it's a blast. And even with Mike playing a couple of those solos Fred can still contribute a lot more than Pete-o.

Erm.. Where do you get that info from? Sounds really stupid, of course Åkesson writes his own solos.

we're speaking of riffs, sherlock. mike has repeatedly said that he writes all of opeth's music. of course fred does his own solos, but that's about it. (well, that and a total shit riff in PH)

I think PH's intro riff, which Akesson wrote, is a good riff. The only problem is it's repeated one too many times, and the entire first half of the song sounds to be founded around that riff. Not a genius riff by any means, but it's much better than the song it's in; if you take them separately.

what are you basing that on? the leads fred plays are written by mike, the only things we've heard from fred are the opening riff of porcelain heart and the solo in HA.

The Fred Heir Apparent solo is fucking amazing.
