Just joined the forum the other day. I've been a fan of Symphony X for almost a year now. My name is Jonathan & I'm from NY. I've got three Symphony X c-d's & I'll list them from my favorite to least favorite:

The Divine Wings of Tragedy
The Odyssey
V: The New Mythology Suite

The've really become my favorite band over time. I also like bands like:

Opeth
Megadeth
Slayer
Iron Maiden
DragonForce

and more. I really would like to meet other Symphony X fans, It would be nice to relate to somebody about good music for a change. I also want to go to a concert but I never been to one and I don't think their touring now.

So how is everyone here?

Welcome to the board :). I think V is better than Odyssey but that's just my lowly opinion.

I'm fine, thanks.

Yeah thing is it's really hard to choose between V: and the Odyssey for second place. Really overall I think V: is better, I just really like a few songs from T.O that made me choose it eventually.

The Divine Wings of Tragedy
V: and TO tied second

Nice choices in CDs, Magnificent Melody. Might I suggest Twilight in Olympus as your next buy?

And hey, Dragonforce kicks ass!

Hey thanks that is actually the next C-D I am getting. I've heard the church of the machine from the website already and its good.

DF IS great. I like Sonic Firestorm better than Valley of the damned. You?

I just got Twilight in Olympus today and I gave it a few listens. I thought this was pretty good most of the time, but I need to really sit down and feel it and appreciate everything it has to offer. Every Symphony X album the first few times I listened to it I didn't enjoy it.

After I've listened to all albums, I'll move on to a lot more other bands. Thanx to all for the welcomes & giving me a cosy relaxed feeling here.

Oh yeah, Twilight In Olympus is awesome. I thought Russell Allen’s character of voice was very diverse and had a lot more melodious and tuneful feeling. I really adore listening to this album on the train as well as all the other albums.

The Divine Wings of Tragedy
V: The New Mythology Suite
The Odyssey
Twilight In Olympus

I was fast to always say TDWOT was the finest album and it has to be because I just think this album is the most unique one. Every album after that is truly hard to distinguish the order in which they are great.

So far, I only own V and The Odyssey...I haven't found the others available in stores yet, although I intend to do some shopping very soon!

V holds a DEFINITE lead over The Odyssey. While I've gotten a bit more used to the latter...I hate to say it, but The Odyssey nearly scared me away from SymX. Thankfully, I had the courage to buy V, which I fell immediately in love with! :)

P.S.: I see you like Opeth! Great band! There's an Opeth discussion thread floating around here somewhere in case you ever want to resurrect it. :)

The Odyssey is great. Inferno, accolade II, the actual odyssey song and if you have the special edition, masquerade 98'. I didn't like king of terrors too much only because it's a simple song instrumentally and not very interesting. All albums are really excellent, really give them all a chance and you'll find beauty in them.

I just might bump that Opeth topic later.
