Early Rush never did it for me really. I did try to like their records, and to some extent a few of them grew on me (moving, farewell) but it's nothing I'd actively suggest. It seems to be some sort of taboo in the prog*tech metal crowd, to not like Rush, so I'll just shut up and recommend mid-era King Crimson and early Yes instead :)

Is this supposed to be a reply to another thread? It seems sort of out of context. Anyhoo...I really like early Rush, as do most of us here, but I can certainly understand someone not liking them. Geddy's vocals, in particular, are very much an acquired taste. It's probably kind of like me and Slayer. I love thrash, but I never got into Slayer, and some people don't understand that. Oh well, to each his own.

This should be in the rush thread. Me clicking on the "new topic" instead of "reply" button would be the problem. Sorry. feel free to edit this or remove it or whatnot.

As to Slayer, I don't listen to them for ideological reasons, but I know what you mean. Slayer are the archetypical "riff salad" thrash band. They have no sense -or they choose to disregard it if they do - of harmonic progression, and thus, their stuff always seems very disruptive to me.
