Holy Shit Old Sepultura fucking rules

As far as I'm concerned once the Roots album was released in 1996, that was the end for Sepultura. Max left and the band basically became shit!

I only like half of Beneath The Remains...seemed like cookie-cutter thrash to me.Arise is much better, and their best in my opinion.Cant get any better than Desperate Cry!

I liked Chaos AD,I was my first Sepultura album and brings memories of my high school days, but it was the beginning of the end, indicating the direction the band will go onto with Roots.

Against was alot better than Roots, but still managed to be subpar.I havent heard Nation (despite having a promo tape of it-unopened  )

Soulfly is horrible.

Yeah the old (original) Sepultura was great. Up until Chaos A.D. Beneath the Remains and Arise in particular, but I also love Schizophrenia and their earliest stuff....

The latter-day Sepultura offerings are utter shite though imho. Soulfly is pretty much shite as well although I have to say I respect them more than Sepultura these days...

I have all 3 Soulfly cds. I had to buy them because I am a fan of Max. The first one sucks, the second one sucks, and the third one touches a bit on the old sep style but overall the band is shit. They could be better though.

What other bands are similar to Sepultura? I know they aren't the only South American metal band I just haven't heard of any more except for the Nu Metal band Ill Nino and they suck ass.

Their is a band called Overdose from Brazil who are meant to be very similar to Sepultura. I have one album called Scars which is very like Roots. Their earlier stuff is meant to be heavier and similar to Beneath.. and Arise but I haven't heard it yet.
