Im a black guy and I love metal mainly death metal, black metal and gothic metal, symphonic metal, progressive metal..

I've listened to bands such as Burzum and love the music even though Varg Vikernes embraces Nationalist Socialist ideologies... Im just wondering, does everyone in the metal scene hold these views?

Nothing wrong with that \m/

He's fucking with you. :kickass:

I personally think you're treated however you allow yourself to be treated. That may be controversial or not compassionate enough, but that's where I stand.

It also depends on the crowds you mingle with, but ultimately what I have always liked about metal is that it's every man for himself, contrary to popular belief, so if you're expecting "the community" to look after you, you're doing it wrong. You're probably more likely to be left alone if you tell people that act ridiculous to fuck off than you are if you try to police people's thoughts and actions.

But no, only a small number of metalheads are NS.

This forum is full of assholes, but yeah the metal scene is honestly very accepting. At shows I've never seen someone treated differently with the exception being at a Pantera show. We accept all including dumbass rednecks apparently.

There are even black people who play metal, so I guess there are probably a few metalheads who think that black people should be treated like humans.

Being an asshole myself, I cant help but be amused. Honestly, the only negative remarks I've ever gotten were from other black people.

Not as much as it takes to be a black chick into metal, and we already have @Funerary_Doom . Sorry, new guy, but you ain't got shit on that.

I agree. Much better than seeing a stereotypical black woman... Regardless, a black person in the metal scene takes a lot of indivuality, whether male or female. Dont put someone on a pedestal just because they have a vagina... You know the saying, nice guys finish last.

Happy head bangin'

l think seeing a woman like Jo Bench was far more surprising than a black musician playing metal. Hyrax, Suffocation, Skindred, Sepultura ,God Forbid etc Hendrix and Tony Macalpine destroy most with an axe.

Like who? I find everyone here quite reasonable and they only seem to rip on others in jest.

srsly though i imagine it takes a stubbornly individual streak to be a black dude into metal, this i approve of

What about a black homosexual dude that is into metal? Are they even more stubborn?

All 3 times I have seen Morbid Angel there has been some guy in a wheelchair right at the front headbanging away haha (not the same guy I don't think). More metal than me, I usually avoid the pits!

I agree with this, but also such extreme and violent music is obviously for the few and not the many so you've instantly got common ground with fellow metalheads at least. Unfortunately, the few I have met in real life tend to have terrible taste and only listen to surface level stuff. Which is why it's nice to post on a forum full of similar minded people.
