How do you listen to music at home?

Thats what I was thinking Koich.

I mostly listen to cds and mp3 cds in the car, mp3s from my PC through my Kenwood hi-fi, or cds through said hi-fi. The PC sounded shithouse through it until recently, and I don't really know why, but ever since I took the hi-fi outside for a party a few weeks back and hooked it back up, it sounds ace.

I listen to the Sony stereo I bought in 1996. Pretty good, but it could do with a bit more bass. Here at my gran's I listen to my late Grandad's Yamaha system.

Um let me see, I think it has an AUX input and left and right inputs, but I'll have to check again. *mental note to investigate later when I get home*

I'm already going slightly mad, Southy. Comes with supporting the clubs I do and listening to raucous (sp?) music.

No you, can get turntables from Tandy for 50 bucks roughly, with a preamp built in, that plugs straight into your aux ports.

You can also run these straight into your pc and record the vinyls to mp3.

very handy.

That's why I'm going slightly mad, Southy! :)

Ah sweet, thanks for the tipofff Josh. I'll get my arse down to Tandy to have a look. I'm starting an LP collection. Apart from anything else it's heaps cheaper to buy back catalogues of people like Alice Cooper on LP than it is on CD.

If you don't already have a turntable Rob, I suggest spending a bet extra to get a brand spanking new one from Tandy.

Seriously, they are utterly brilliant.

You know they have no wear and won't need new belts for them in 2 weeks.

Oh yeah, is there much difference in quality between the old ones and the new ones? Would newer ones be as good as yours, Timmah?

They are all basically the same technology, there isn't many variables that can change the sound of a turntable in my opinion. The only one I can think of is the stylus, and you can buy a top notch diamond tip one for fuck all.
