I hear it pronounced in two different ways. The way I pronounce it doesn't put emphasis on the second syllable. I believe that's what the original poster was trying to communicate, as an unstressed short E sound will sound somewhat like a short I sound. However, I also hear it pronounced with emphasis on both syllables.hibernal_dream said:Only if you're a South African
The real question is where the emphasis lies. Is it Oh-peth or Oh-peth?
