i hear people saying how they can, and when advertised to sell people state they were used in a smoke free environment.

wondering because i just moved my setup into my room, and wondering if i should now be smoking in my garden

cheers

Smoke in the garden.

If you keep music gear in a smoky environment expect crackling and noise from all the crap settling on the contacts - at the very least. I expect that shite all over the speaker cones won't improve their mechanical response either.

My granny's telly actually caught fire 'cos she smoked so much in her retirement flat. About six months old, and it went up in smoke 'cos the tar settling on the PCBs (being carbon-based) is conductive and current wound up going where it wasn't meant to. I stopped smoking in my room after that. I don't give a fuck about my lungs but I don't want that crap in my gear!

Some people seem to have the misconception that smoke doesn't really contain "stuff". Smoke is "stuff". Ever see somebody with a yellow ceiling? Same stuff.
I don't know about you, but I don't want that disgusting stuff all over my gear.

Not to mention how bad it fucking stinks.

yup, can't bong out your room anymore i'm afraid. Not unless you wanna cover your gear in plastic sheets every time you wanna spark one up. Smoke + gear you wanna keep = don't mix

ahh shite! i'm now thinking of moving all my gear out my room again now hahah!!

i have a big room, kingsize bed, and every 2 to 3 nights i have mates round, smoke loadsa shit! bong out the room, order a pizza with bbq base and chinese chicken, and order loads of apple and chocolate pies.

and now...... looks like thats not happening. although, i like the plastic sheet idea.... or maybe a duvet...

cheers tho guys!!

Honestly man, just don't smoke near your gear. Whether you move your gear to another location or not. Think about what would happen if you tried to sell a piece of gear that stinks of Nicotine.

Not to mention it would not be beneficial to your gear at all. I'd ditch the plastic sheets idea as well. Keep your recording, mixing environment clean bro.

The piece of gear that probably takes the biggest hit from smoking around is your computer. I've cleaned a pc that a smoker blew smoke around it for four years and it was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen.

Not only does the tar slow down moving parts like fans it also gives dust a great surface to collect on.

I don't smoke, and I hate smoke, BUT

You can't deny that it looks REALLY FUCKEN cool....
Cmon now.

Pistol still smoking after a shootout. Light up a cigarette and make that
"smoker" face.

Hah It's no wonder kids get into smoking at such an early age.

But smoke in yo gear ain't cool.

Nobody in their right mind would smoke near gear.

Actually, I think people look ridiculously stupid sucking on a cigarette in absolutely every conceivable scenario. ESPECIALLY the ones who make the trademark "smoker" faces. :p
