How Is Amon Amarth the 'opener'

Thats awesome, you lucky bastard :p ... or perhaps i am just the unlucky bastard here

Ave!
I was at the Masquerade in Atlanta on December 6. It was quite frustrating to have AA open and not only that but their set was only 5 songs. Trivium, whom I had never heard of, sucked. Children of Bodom was great...but AA is spiritual in the Pagan Norse way and thus they honour my ancestors and all that I hold dear and so COB simply cannot compete with them. My first AA show and though it was great to simply be there and I would have went to see just one live song played by them I was deeply pissed off. It isn't AA's fault though.

FINALLY got to see AMON AMARTH last night. That was 5 years in the making, and about an hour too short. They didn't even touch anything before The Crusher :( . That aside, it was a great set and they fucking KILLED everyone there. ESPECIALLY the band right after them, Haha! Hopefully this tour helps their sales and they can come back around again soon, with a better tour slot.

I don't think their main concern is about sales as much as it is about gaining a fan base (although both go together) which if they do; would mean no more touring with tree hugging hippies dressed a la GreenDay aka Trivium.
AA in europe is at a headliner status while here in the US it is a whole different story.
My only wish is for metalblade to put out a killer metal US tour with another label ... Metalblade did "sound of the underground" tour with all the emo/metalcore bands ... give us real metal, now that does not mean a 30 day tour, but something that is organised and would profit all the bands.

CAn someone actually tell me how bands make money?
I heard somwhere that they get almost nothing out of CD sales, like less than a €, and also that concerts cost a hell of a lot, and those record deals, it's like an initial sum and then what? Is it only merchandise left?

yeah so i saw them at the Palladium in Worcester. Trivium should have opened for one song, then died. Amon Amarth should have come next with a few, then Children of Bodom, and then an encore of the latter two

trivium just sucks. the guitarist is pretty technical (not the singer), but other than that, Metallica ripoffs and Pantera covers are just not cool. at all

trivium sucks

and how the fuck is AA not popular in the US?!

hey i consider myself a tree hugging hippie and (METAL) moshing enthusiast. ive noticed that most of todays metal heads are part pot-smoking hippies anyways. but trivium and greenday are still POP "music" fecal matter

oh yeah and Americans suck

AA is popular in the states its just the promoters that don't think they are. You should have heard the amount of people atthe Philly show that booed Trivium when they came on.

Yea I don’t think promoters are very bright people. I still cant see how Trivium is considered more popular than AA. In Toronto there where only about 5 Trivium fans (people who had Trivium shirts on). I think the promoters realized that Trivium sounds like Pantera and Slayer and because those bands have a huge fan base they assumed that Trivium must as well.

Point is Trivium sucked balls, AA was friggen sweet, and COB was alright.

I was second from the barrier during AA in Vacouver, friggen insane.

Met Johan and talked to him for a while, was pretty sweet.

I spent about 500 bucks to see AA in Van... 500 bucks, CAD, for an opener.

Now that's dedication.

hahaha.

My favorite are the Trivium fanboys that are like "Oh you AA fans are just jelous because Trivium accomplished way more and are way more popular" when they don't realize that in Europe they would all be sodomized because NOBODY has heard of Trivium.
