Experimental album for this storic band that comes back after two years. What a delusion!!
This cd is very far from gothic...their music tries to mix Psychedelic 70's and alternative rock...but the songs are not up to the task...........
The first single"Ghost of the sun" is a very strange song that mixes elements of Psychedelic rock and alternative metal guitar...a very bad song...i think that they've tried to play something original but result is very far from what it would be!!!!!!!
"Sleeper" is another useless song...what a noise!! In this song they seem a 70's band!!!!
I have to wait the track no.4 before i can finally listen to something good..."A premonition"is a good song in which they remind me to THE CURE concerning the deepness of the sound.
"Will I arrive" shows Katatonia's soul.....a very hard song in which the refrein shows all their melancholy, but unfortunately not every part part of this song is well-structured.
The atmosphere of this album never changes and sometimes it's very boring, although Katatonia are still able to surprise here and there with touches of nice melodies: but it's not sufficient because the structure of the tracks is unsuccesful. The sound made by the guitars is as bad as the vocals which are simply tedious !!
Just some words for "One year from now" , that is a very sad ballad that may be compared to an alternative rock one
The cd goes on and there's nothing to save till track no.13......"Inside the City of Glass" which in my opinion has something in common with Sentenced instrumental tracks: it's a very depressive gothic song!!!! Only one good track....does it worth the price of this cd??
