I heard Nectar around 1997 or so, and was captivated, but I didn't really get into them until after the release of MAYH, so I'd say 4 years or a bit more.
Since a few months after BWP released I guess. I listened to Still life when it came out but it didn't graps me the first time I heard it. I should have known better
Eyup, first post on this board, thought I'd just jump in.
I've been listening to Opeth since around 1997, when I was introduced to the wonders of Magic Mushrooms & Morningrise (at the same time) Things have never been the same since
The only album I don't really rate is MAYH, it's a bit of a 'too heavy' departure from their usual mix, although I was going through a soft phase when that came out.
First thing that struck me down was 'the Apostle in Triumph' on the candlelight sampler. I think that was '95 or so. I really got into Opeth after hearing Nectar on some other sampler cd some time after that. Probably some six years ago.
