Yeah, I've heard it (one of my friend's has the album), and seriously, they're NOT as bas as everyone wants to believe they are. I feel many people WOULD LIKE to believe they suck just because the guy was from Coal Chamber. Big fucking deal. The sound is FAR different than Coal Chamber.
I Could Care Less ain't THAT bad. It's FAR from fantastic, but it's quite decent. Though, the fourth track of the album is complete SHIT! Those vocals - fuck - now that song sucks! I'm pretty certain it's the 4th track.
Anyway, clearly they sound more along the lines of Black Metal due to the vocal style especially, but...I don't know, I've heard FAR worse but I'd still NEVER buy any of their cd's that's for sure.

From what I've heard, they could be a decent live band, if they deliver as tightly as on the album.

I Saw them (Devil Driver) with Morbid Angel and Superjoint Ritual and wasn't impressed..I was there to see Morbid Angel..It doesn't matter if Devil Driver is on the bill but it's no worse than the overrated Lacuna Coil or Tapping the Vein getting the tour. So quit you're whining because there are too many threads about this on the BB.

I'm NOT into Devil Driver dude..However, contracts have been signed from booking agencies and THAT is the way the muisc business is run. I'm not defending Devil Drivers for thier lameness or booing them off the stage. I would rather have seen Katakylsm get the gig or perhaps Opeth tour with some of my favorite death or doom bands..Instead of these stupid threads, (LOL) You would be simply better off e-mailing Opeth's booking agency BEFORE the tour is booked and lobby for your fave band to tour with Opeth based upon record release and availability..ggggggu said:

I've heard 'em and I think they suck! It's nu-metal meets death metal with incredibly shitty vocals! They have no business fucking up a perfect bill like Opeth and Moonspell! They just don't belong...at all

I heard them... I must say that the drumming is good, and SOME of the riffing on ONE song I heard was tight, but I was otherwise unimpressed.

I agree..When I saw Devil Driver with Morbid Angel and Superjoint Ritual (and I wasn't there for any band other than Morbid Angel) I was NOT impressed by Dez's vocals. Devil Driver are definintly heavy with a mix of thrash, but GENERIC at best and the musicianship is average at best..Devil Driver fit perfectly on a bill with SuperJOKEritual but Devil Driver are certianly not unique to the genre..Nothing technical to Devil Driver or nothing atmospheric and we all know that they wil be mass marketed to the crap they play on MTV's headbangers ball..MindInsane said:I've heard 'em and I think they suck! The beginning of "The Mountain" was ok, but they didn't seem able to do anything with it. Nothing else was worth mentioning.
The music is alright at best but the vocals/lyrics suck. Nothing new or interesting and not good enough to be on tour with Opeth.

after following that link and listening to them though, they have failed to impress me so far.
as for gggggggu who keeps pasting that 'to be used for opeth discussion only'

How about an option for "yes, I have heard them, and I think they suck purely on their own merit"? It's like extreme nu-metal. Drumming's interesting at times, vocals are ok, but the attitude and angle all oozes crap and the riffs are that fucking "let's play a boring two-note pattern" type. I can't stand that. It's the reason why I want to smash n-m whenever I hear it.

I only listened to I Could Care Less, and that type of music just isn't my cup of tea, and I wouldve much rather seen Kataklysm.

XM radio played 'em recently, and I have to admit that I was bobbing my head to the beat a little before I looked on the display and read who it was. Not horrible, but not noteworthy either. I, like I said before, will be at the bar.
