How old were you when you started smoking ?.

That's the worst rationale ever.

I'm pretty sure if someone is living with someone else who smokes, they set guidelines on that shit.

It's not like they won't say something if it annoys them.

Well, sorry to get personal on this...but...

My grandpa has smoked pretty much his whole life. Recently, he's been homebound (probably due to it, plus other problems like being old in general), so my grandma has had to stay with him much more. He still smokes, the doctors have said that he won't get any better if he stops, so let him do it if it makes him feel better (which I guess makes sense, but I would have rather he never started in the first place, because it's horrible). Anyway, my grandma JUST had a heart attack two days ago...most likely caused by the buildup of the tar, etc. produced by my grandpa smoking and getting the smoke in her lungs, arteries, and the like. She is otherwise a VERY healthy person (no bad cholesterol, eats nothing with over 3G of fat per serving, blah blah) so secondhand smoke is the only reason I can really muster...guess we'll find out.

Anyway, it is hard to talk to someone who is addicted to cigarettes about stopping...duh.

Yeah, my grandfather smoked two packs a day from the age of 14 until I don't know when, but he died of something that isn't caused by smoking.

Whatever.

Yeah I know, it affects people differently, which is why he doesn't have lung cancer, but has everything else...heh. But still, smoking affects the people around you when long exposure is prevalent. No fuckin' arguing that.

That's true, but you shouldn't make it illegal if someone wants to smoke cigarettes. It should be up to the people living with the person who smokes to say something. It's all up to responsibility.

Well, I can't see how anyone would be psyched to work somewhere with smokers, unless you already are one...so yeah.

Well if smoking is legal, then weed should be too (even though I hate both, the laws now are pretty hypocritical).

I agree, even though I would never smoke it.

Same here. I believe it should be legalized purely for legal (aka not personal) reasons. It is stupid that it is illegal.

Also, weed only has more abrupt effects, not "stronger" effects (at least not that we can empirically categorize).

legalizing weed would also have a great effect on the economy
we would save millions of dollars keeping people out of jail for stuff pertaining to weed (possesion, etc.)
and also its a crop, so we could gain money that way
and best of all it would be a lot harder for kids to get their hands on

You're right on all points except the last one. If a kid who's under age has an adult friend, they can just ask them to get it for them. Trust me, I know a bunch of friends who do that.
