How to record audio & video at the same time?

My step-dad wants to film and record himself playing guitar so he can upload videos of himself on to youtube.

Is there any PC software about that will record the video from his webcam and

a) the sound coming into the soundcard's line-in which will be hooked up to his mixing desk that has his XLR mikes plugged into when he's playing classical
b) the output of a guitar amp sim when he's playing electric

We already have cubase 5

the most obvious way to do it would be to film while he is recording, and then in moviemaker (or a non-free video editor like adobe premier) delete the audio from the original video and import the new audio to the session, then line it up with the video.

Exactly. Thats how I've done it in the past for all my projects
