howard clean

However, I will point out that I do regularly hear 7-8 minute Tool songs all day long on my local hard rock radio stations. The classic rock stations are also quite fond of the super-long Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Doors, stuff too.

That's radio, though... and Opeth won't get on the radio because of the growling - unless they decide to start playing cuts from "Damnation." It just seems like radio ignores any bands that are even remotely close to extreme metal. About as heavy as they go is Disturbed.

Sounds like you have a cool/interesting job!

Yeah, in my town of 60,000 I doubt anything extreme would make it on the radio...but I have heard from friends that larger areas have some diverse radio stations that will play some heavy stuff. But I dunno, I'm a small town guy.

My job is pretty cool, it's a stepping-stone sorta thing though. Really, really shitty pay and I work till 2AM on each and every Friday and Saturday night. But this will put me through electrical engineering school, and after I graduate with my BS in EEing I'll have 7 years experience at this market and I'll be able to move up quickly. Maybe I can grab a director's job for live shows, sporting events, etc...or be a master control op at big cable networks like CNN or Fox News.

My goal is to either have a good career in either TV or audio...so far it's looking like TV. But I'm only 20, so who knows.
