Whoa! Might just have to check this out..... Palatine, IL is only a little over an hour's drive from me!

J-Dubya

Portnoy:worship:
Gilbert:hotjump:
Sheehan:headbang:
Cherone:yuk:

This should be great musically but vocally it should suck! A friend got free tickets to see Van Halen when Cherone fronted them. I didn't think the album was bad so I went in with an open mind. Cherone was freakin aweful and I felt ripped off with a free ticket! Even Eddie's guitar solo couldnt save that stinker of a show! I figured Cherone would suck on Dave songs but from his range on the album I figured he should be able to pull off the Sammy songs. Not only did they blow too but he couldnt even sing his own material very well. He just flat out sucked!

I am definitely going to this! And when I saw Cherone with VH I thought he was damn good, just not the right fit, but still good.

You dont do anything but go to shows and hang out at Starbucks :tickled:

I got to check out this one too! Looks like a doosey! I would love to see Portnoy and Sheehan on the same stage. That would fucking rock!

Maybe I cought him on a bad night but I dont think so. If he could have at least pulled off his own material from VH3 it wouldnt have been so bad. He was a horrible frontman too - more crotch grabbing than Michael Jackson!

Once again, I thought he sounded great, and definitely did the VH3 material justice, which is an album I really like.

However, you are 100% correct about his stage antics. The guy looked like he'd be more comfortable performing in a burlesque show than a rock concert. Way too much crotch grabbing, way too much mic stand humping, and way too much grinding on Eddie and Michael. His lisp doesnt help either.

In Cherone's defense, however, I will say that DLR was just as overtly sexual in his performances with VH back in the day. But then again, DLR pulled it off as well as anyone ever has or will.

Unfortunately I never got to see VH with DLR. You're a lucky man!

I thought VH3 was a decent album, nothing great but better than most people made it outto be. WAY below standard for a VH album though.
