Huge Complaint with the new Arch Enemy...

Here's a note from the guys about having a break:

Notes:

Michael Amott speaks out on www.archenemy.net:

Arch Enemy guitar player (and my brother) Christopher Amott wants to take
time out and fully concentrate on his studies at home in Sweden.
Christopher completed his work on the new "DOOMSDAY MACHINE" album, but
will not be a part of ARCH ENEMY's touring line-up for the foreseeable
future. We wish him luck.

Sharing guitar duties with myself for the next few months (including
Ozzfest in the US) is our friend Gus G. (Firewind, Nightrage). Gus is an
awesome player, truly a world-class shredder. We look forward to having
him play with us! If you see him around this summer, buy him a beer!

Considering these recent developments, we have reluctantly decided not to
play the festivals scheduled for Europe this summer.

We are very sorry to disappoint fans in Europe but we will be undertaking
an extensive European tour in the autumn after the release of the album.

The new ARCH ENEMY album "DOOMSDAY MACHINE" is probably the most intense
and interesting piece of work we have assembled in our career as a band.
I was at Andy Sneap's studio in England these last few days and we put
the final touches to the album - it is now mixed and mastered and ready
to be delivered to our record labels... finally! Yes, it took longer than
we anticipated, but listening to it now... it is such a big step up for
us - on every level. I am excited about the songs, the production and
overall UBER-METAL feel of this new album!!! It's definitely been worth
all the hard work!

As ever, my deepest thanks go to the ARCH ENEMY fans whose amazing
support and belief inspires us ever onward - Welcome to the DOOMSDAY
MACHINE!

The sad part was that I'm actually serious. :-/
and the even funnier part is that we know you are... and clearly are nowhere near as bothered by it as you are. i hear riffs similar to others in EVERY band.

I don't really see how it belongs here.........yes, Arch Enemy are a shitty band, but that doesn't really have anything to do with Andy or production issues.

It´s the first time in this forum that i watch many "ordinary" users and premium members disrespecting someone´s opinion in a way i have never seen.

get a girlfriend or something, asshole.

Now, what's the point with this? A man utters his opinion, not a single word or phrase in that opinion is offending or a personal insult - it's just an opinion, and quite frankly, a bit refreshing on this board. I don't agree though, to me Andy Sneap is GOD (or as close as it gets when it comes to metalsound) - but I definately don't see how that entitles you to call him asshole. It says a lot more about you than him. So you and Andy are good friends - so what? Let mr. Sneap speak for himself. If it was a serious personal insult I could understand you - but this is below common decent behaviour. You've complained about harsh language before - and then this??? I have the deepest respect for the good advice you've been giving on this board - but that doesn't grant you the right to responses like that....

To DSS3 - I know you were serious - you just happened to stumble on one of the most inbreed boards filled with backscratchers, just because there are a few "celebrities" here. Granted, the silencejoke was funny - but let's get back to what it's all about: helping each other and having some serious discussions. On and off a few "weird" topics are raised (perhaps this one was one of them) - but lets not sink to the lowest common denominator...all the time.

Now flame me......

Oooh. this is gonna get good I hope...

Choose your weapons!

Let's hear your music, dude. Let's hear you do better. Arch Enemy are undeniably great musicians. Nobody can say that they suck. If you dislike them, that is your personal taste, but most of us here like their music.

Yo seriously, like why would you come to Andy Sneap's forum and start this ish with him. I've talked to him once or twice on AIM and he's a decent enough and rational/logical guy that he shouldn't have to put up with crap like that, especially on his own turf.

You don't like the new Arch Enemy?

don't fucking listen to it.

Don't get me wrong, I love Arch Enemy. I was just a bit dissapointed to hear nearly identical parts to their own, and Mikes own, songs.

I'd delete this thread, as it's going nowhere, and I'm truly sorry for the disruption, but I don't see a delete option.

Hahaha, thanks Lee, this thread was suddenly being too serious :)

My humble opinion now : DDS3 was not harsh or whatever in his thread, no problem about that, and actually I don't think that what he says is completely wrong (on previous albums, you could easily find other band's riff in their songs... like "Bark at the moon" on an old AE album, can't remember it). Oh well... I have the same problem with the last Dream Theater album...
The whole "silence" joke was funny and most of us came on that but not as a reaction to DDS3's remark but to Andy's joke and refering to a previously "analog silence vst plugin" post (actually that's my case and I'm sure nobody wanted to attack DDS3 on that).

Now, about Agalloch's post, actually, yes, most of us can recognize Andy's signature in the sound of his productions, and we like that - some don't, but that's fine, every tastes are in the nature and we must respect each other. And we probably all agree that his work is among (if not) the best at the moment (why would we be here then ?). And labels and bands come to him to get THIS sound, so they are the ones to blame for wanting this sound, not the producer for giving them what they pay for.

On another level, I don't think TGE and DM sound like everything Andy did in the past. To me, he's even getting better and better (which, when you come to think of it, is a pretty scary thought - do you think he learned some stuff from us here ? ;)).

Anyway, damn it, now I can't remember what I wanted to say... eur... oh yes... would you like a peanut ?
