Arch Enemy done!

I must give in after 25 to 30 listens i'm finally convinced that this album and the production fucking kills i love it,i don't know why, but i was kind of disappointed the first many times i heard it.

Hi Andy,

Could you tell us if the mixes were all done ITB, or did you put in some analog (summing?) gear to juice up?

Cheers, :headbang:

Thanks for you reply Andy!

AMAZING! :worship:

Mixed in PT HD?
Or the PT listed at your webpages?
I'm about to invest in a SSL 4K but you get me wondering here... :ill:

Did they use any peticular gear to warm up prior to mixing maybe?

Cheers,

Soundscaper.

I'd love to get an idea of some of the stuff you used(ie what plugins on what instruments, etc.). Specifically, how much compression are you using from the Alan Smart? We have the SSL Compressor at work, and I'm wondering what the difference in sound is.

I nearly bought an SSL the otherday (great price) but it got chopped up and shipped to France. The next day I was at Townhouse in London for the Arch Enemy play back, 2 of the rooms having their SSL's serviced. Think before you buy! The 4ks are getting a bit old nowadays, though I still love them, they look great, but the maintinence is a pain in the arse.
If you're mixing in PT's my favourite plug has to be metric halos channel strip. You really can get a similar feel to the SSL EQ and Compression out of it.

Hey Frenchy, I'm not telling you my reverb settings.

Yeah, SSL's are great, so long as you know how to maintain them, or are willing to pay someone who does. Never tried the Metric Halo strip, so I may give it a whirl. What do you think of McDSP's stuff(Filterbank, Compressorbank, Analog Channel, etc.)?

We have a 4k at uni, i like working with it but it seems that there's always something wrong with it, busses distorting, channels not being able to reach the bus matrix etc etc
We have a 9000K as well, it's just so much more comfortable to work with (i hate the automation on the 4k), but then again the pricetag on that one is a bit heftier :)
