I don't really see how it belongs here.........yes, Arch Enemy are a shitty band, but that doesn't really have anything to do with Andy or production issues.

that's just your opinion. i like arch enemy, don't say they are shitty, you should say you think your shitty.

I have to say, I don't think the albums sound the same at all, totally different samples used on both albums, I didn't actually produce Arch Enemy so it's a pretty ill informed statement, but hey, whatever, every producer/mixer puts his stamp on a sound. If you don't like it I'm certainly not having trouble sleeping over it, as the reviews for TGE across Europe are probably the most positive I've seen on an album I've been involved with.

I actually really enjoyed how the Masterplan album sounded even though it wasn't mixed by you.

Oh and Kelly Grey should be sodomized with a bull's head for the hackery he made of Enemies of Reality.

Now, what's the point with this? A man utters his opinion, not a single word or phrase in that opinion is offending or a personal insult - it's just an opinion, and quite frankly, a bit refreshing on this board. I don't agree though, to me Andy Sneap is GOD (or as close as it gets when it comes to metalsound) - but I definately don't see how that entitles you to call him asshole. It says a lot more about you than him. So you and Andy are good friends - so what? Let mr. Sneap speak for himself. If it was a serious personal insult I could understand you - but this is below common decent behaviour. You've complained about harsh language before - and then this??? I have the deepest respect for the good advice you've been giving on this board - but that doesn't grant you the right to responses like that....

To DSS3 - I know you were serious - you just happened to stumble on one of the most inbreed boards filled with backscratchers, just because there are a few "celebrities" here. Granted, the silencejoke was funny - but let's get back to what it's all about: helping each other and having some serious discussions. On and off a few "weird" topics are raised (perhaps this one was one of them) - but lets not sink to the lowest common denominator...all the time.

Now flame me......
no need to "flame you"... just fill you in with a little background. this, as you inaccurately assume, was not the first from Herr Agalloch... nor was it my first response to him, most all the other's being much more calm and rational. he has taken this beyond reasoning for me, this is the first time i have really gotten upset by something enough to speak up in such a public way. before i say anymore, let me refer you to a post from our little black-metal friend Agolloch taken from the Nevermore board:

"How about the lame fake ass drum samples used by Andy Sneap. I heard the same damn ones in the Enemies remaster, and Deliverance, and basically everything else he's done in the last few years. He makes every band he mixes sound exactly the same as all of the others he's done. Fucking hack. I remember the powerful sound of Dreaming Neon Black. Gone."

now, as far as his opinion goes, i don't care about that.. but calling a friend of mine a "Fucking hack" is going to set me off every time.. that's just the way i am... and maybe i'd feel lame about that aspect of myself if Andy was a hack, but clearly... to any person of sound mind and ear.... he is not. at the end of the day i could've just had a laugh about it and ignored him, but it just hit me at the wrong time. and it's still the wrong time. i simply don't have it in me right now to ignore that comment, or his subsequent ones, and if that is to the detriment of my standing in your eyes, then so be it.

unrepentently yours,

I agree 100-fucking-%. I am sick of these 'Haters' abusing these forums. I'm new to the forum, but at least I still have enough fucking respect to keep my opinions simple, edjucated, non-conforming, and most of all.... non-judgemental toward anyone else. That is what an OPINION is... something someone else believes and/or thinks. Thanks for sticking up James.

The thing that erks me is this-

what is wrong with having a signature sound? yes there is a similar sound through andy's work, isn't that the point?

the funny thing is, with the same samples in some cases it would be harder to get the same drum sound from album to album, having to take into account the tuning/tone/layering differences of each album and then manipulating in reference to a previous album :ill:

some people are so oblivious as to what goes in to production :yuk:

sad

Let's hear your music, dude. Let's hear you do better. Arch Enemy are undeniably great musicians. Nobody can say that they suck. If you dislike them, that is your personal taste, but most of us here like their music.

I don't see why I have to have an album out to critique other people's music. I'd like to think I'm at least somewhat experienced with listening to music........if not so much with making it.
