HYPOCRISY-Band For Depressed?

I get caught up in the atmosphere, I don't really get any negative vibe from them, they're just slow and dark and beautiful, not sad (like some whiney vocal guy boohooing on some emo song ya know, that's depressing)

Thats where I have to differ. I just laugh at the guy singing with whiney vocals on some emo song, that's not depressing. For me, the atmosphere created in a song is what gets to me, so really I think the complete opposite to what you said :p Like I said in an earlier post, it's the listeners own interpretation.

It's only a certain number of Hypocrisy songs that get to me though.

hell yas it is cos I' a depressiv and I always listeb to then to not kill my self

A-ha :err:
Listening to Hypocrisy = not to kill yourself.
Doesn´t that make it like... cheerful?

Whatever the mood I´m in, listening to Hypocrisy makes the existing feeling to grow stronger. It does not change my happy mood to sad or vice versa.

.. just to elaborate my "wide" comment from before, eh.

Not just 'The abyss' man,not just that...am I almost the only one who found Hypocrisy full of depressive moods?? Just whole self titled album is suicidal...because I don't want to mention any song...well,I will...'paled empty sphere'..that song crushes me everytime...:erk:

Ok, just to set this straight.
What did the original guestion mean?
Music that depressed people should listen to?

Aa.. because the music is:
-Depressive as in crappy, weak try, just plain bad music?
-Depressive as in "the music makes me feel sad and I could cry"?
-Depressive as in it could be labeled under the words "doom metal"?
or what?!

To me.. if the band makes "depressive" (sad, slow) songs AMONG other kinda songs, it does not make the band depressive. Or even doom.
There´s depressive and doomish songs, the band itself is something else.

Since Hypocrisy doesn´t (to me, remember that please) really fit under "death metal" anymore, and there really isn´t any other slot to shove it into... It´s just Hypocrisy.

I´m only asking because it seems that this guestion is understood in many different ways. :guh:

oh...I do not have the illness of depression, so what´s wrong with me since Hypocrisy is pretty much my way of life and it (to many people here) seems to be "a band for depressed".

Argh.. too many thoughts. I´m confused :bah:

The way I see it is, Hypocrisy have created some songs with atmosphere's and tempo's to suggest certain moods/emotions. These songs usually involve clean vocals (interwoven with harsh in some cases). For me, this is only a handful of songs though and most Hypocrisy songs just make want to headbang like mad. However, some just make me want to sit and listen...

So my answer to the topic question would be...

No, Hypocrisy's for people who like having atmosphere in their music, who like to feel different emotions whilst listening to their music and not to just be depressed. I think a perfect example of this would be the song Shamatuer followed by Adjusting the Sun... you couldn't find a more contrasting combo. Ones melancholic whilst the others upbeat and exceedingly headbangable.

No... I for one can't understand half of the words he's singing anyway.. but the music definately is too invigorating to be depressing... Pain might be considered more depressing music ... maybe?..

And here I must again ask depressing how?
How can ...let´s say "techno" be depressing? Unless you think that kinda music sucks ass.
Or do you mean only the words? They might have some depressive-vibes here and there, but still the words don´t effect the music. I think.:p

"Just Hate Me" by Pain is quite depressing (as in a song with a depressing subject matter) ... The film clip which is awesome is quite depressing ... poor poor robot :)

Well, I suppose Hypocrisy in this respect is true to life. Their music might be the reflection of the rough moments in life, but its beauty is also turning it into very hopefull music, and in some moments might give one a reason to hang on.

You're absolutely right! In some life cases some songs both Hypocrisy and Pain give a nice kick to ass for moving forward and beginning do something.
What songs you can list as such?
