word. personally I don't find MDB/Insomnium, or any of these 'melencholic' metal bands to have a depressing kind of sound, i really enjoy it.

I don't think that hypocrisy sound is depressive, just slow and melodic some song, but depressive ... noooo!!!!!!

Why didn't I mention that some songs that can't be determined as "depressive" have short depressive melodies and notes like "Killing Art", "Craving For Another Killing", solo on "Inquire Within", "Request Denied" etc?

You have the point...many 'brutal' songs have some parts with 'depressive' melodies...I would also like to add 'Compulsive Psychosis',outro of War Within( melody )..every time gives me chills,and maybe it will sound stupid but almost all Catch 22 album...yes,I like Catch 22 very much

As to the topic question, I have noticed that they give off a sort of depressive vibe, but it's very subtle and not really a prominent force in their music. I actually think some songs (such as "Living to Die") sound more desperate than depressed.

Penetralia, Althotas, Apocalypse, Reincarnation, Black Forest, The Fourth Dimension, Roswell 47, The Arrival Of The Demons (Part2), Paradox, Reflections, Slippin' Away, Drained, A Coming Race, Inquire Within, Request Denied, Adjusting The Sun, The Final Chapter, Elastic Inverted Visions, Until The End, Paranormal Mysteria, Disconnected Magnetic Corridors, Paled Empty Sphere, Resurrected, Fire In The Sky, Deathrow (No Regrets), Uncontrolled, Seeds Of The Chosen One, All Turns Black, Eraser, Slave To The Parasites, Fearless and Living To Die...these songs are depressive like a coming of death!!!!!! >:-]

They have quite some dark songs yeah, but i dont think its for depressed people.. actually, i feel good when i listen to hypocrisy. When i went to their gig last year it was full of happy people, maybe a few "depressed" but most of those were 15 year old goths who think its cool to be depressed and go emo all over
