Mine's price is almost same with iPod mini(4GB) here in Korea. I've considered iPod mini a lot but iPod has a short playback time, about 5~6 hours, I heard. This product runs over 30 hours!
If your local stores or online stores deal with COWON's products, I recommend you to give a deeeeeeeep look.
50 is total bulshit. Most of my mp3 collection isn't 128 bitrate so these estimations really are off the mark. I put 3 shape of dispair albums in it yesterday and they fit to the bite. 254 megs for 16 songs of awesome funeral doom. I guess I have the same problem with the kayo dot length tracks 'cause if I listened to agoraphobic nosebleed or something I'd happily cram 200 songs in there.
30-50 hours is amazing, especially when you consider that if you run out you can just pop in a new battery and throw out the old one. whereas with a regular ipod/nomad whatever you need to recharge the expensive battery.
however, my Nomad holds a charge for at least 10-15 hours of play, and I've never run out of battery power...easy to plug it in sometime during or after 10 hours before going on another 15 hours journey without an outlet in sight!
The iRiver 300 series holds about 16-18 hours of charge. It also has a tuner and recorder for the same price as the ipod. I also like the interface a bit more, but that's just a preference.
