I can't believe this (guilty-pleasure-related)

Dreamlord - The Darkness are retro rock music. Think of a mix between T-Rex (Marc Bolan), Queen, and The Black Crowes.
And AC/DC. And Foreigner. And Boston. And KISS. And basically everything that made the '70s cool.

This is flares, Gibson Les Pauls, and basically glam rock.
This is in fact, what Andrew W.K. failed so miserably to do. Yes, they suck, but in a really, really good way. :)

A shocking statement from someone who has ZERO musical history to draw upon. Unless we're counting West Texas Christian rock.
A dude owns 1 or 2 Petra tapes and suddenly he has "zero" musical history knowledge? So basically all my Sabbath, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, etc albums mean nothing?

Dude, come on. It's FUNNY to keep bringing this up! Well, I'M laughing at least. All kidding aside, I've never ever ever heard/read you speak about the mighty Zeppelin (or Sabbath or Van Halen either). Not saying you haven't...just that I haven't seen it.

Van Halen's 1984 was my first musical purchase ever! I bet I still have that cassette somewhere. Zep was never a favorite of mine, but I enjoyed a few songs like Black Dog, Misty Mountain Hop...

I've always loved Sabbath, well the first 6 albums anyway, which is really all that matters.

Hell, I even like some Queen, which is what The Darkness reminded me of except they somehow managed to grab every possible annoying weakness from Queen and increase those annoyances exponentially to create one horrible song.

And tons of metalheads own Extol, Zao, Lengsel, and no one has a problem with it. And that hopesfall album you own, Christian hardcore, my man.

Ok, a couple points.

I don't care about the Christian angle, since I don't care about religion. I listened to Stryper. :) And that .hopesfall. album still kicks my ass. None of that matters.

I was more talking about how you panned the Darkness when all they really are trying to do is bring back that oh-so-simple style of 3-chords, higher-than-normal vocals (not necessary whiny or falsetto) and big ol' in your face rock and roll of the 1970s. It's the style that launched the careers of KISS, AC/DC, and countless other bands, and it's a style I basically grew up on the tail end of so always holds a nice place inside my cold dead heart. Capece? ;)

Besides, REALLY all I was getting at was a nice opportunity to poke fun of Petra.

The Darkness can try to bring back a dead sound, but don't tell me that was a good song. I'll take Petra over that crap any day. :)

*cough*

Pink Floyd, King Crimson, and Led Zeppelin are my sacred 3.

Oh God. I found all three to be narcolepsy put to disc. I'd rather sit through an Economics class teaching the supply and demand curve than listen to any of those bands.
Dream - you dirty bastard.

No, I quite literally meant annus 2K. Though post 2000 was probably sometime in 2002, which is I'm guessing closer to realistic.

I thought he meant year 2000, ah well....
Oh my god. I didn't even think I need a :loco: smilie for that one. Does anybody speak British around here? I'm surrounded by Republicans!

"THE REDCOATS ARE COMING!!!!!!!!"
--NAD on New Years, yelling at his bro's neighbors.

I've said arse in place of ass for years now, is that British enough? :loco:

Bollocks is a good one, I don't say that one nearly enough.

I'll tell you what about them Bri'ish, nobody but NOBODY can insult someone like a Brit. They'll use all these coloUrful words that make you laugh, distracting you from the fact that they basically just told you they arse-raped your mum while you were too busy playing stationary leapfrog with your sister. And it'll take us average Americans 30 minutes to translate!
