....but I got my ticket to Opeth/Porcupine Tree in San Francisco a couple of weeks ago. No point to this post, just lording it over those whose town they are not even coming too.....mwahahahahah! Nah, really I'm just kidding there.....but I must say I'm pretty damn amped about the show. There was a thread here recently about the Sigur Ros show here (Oakland), which was great incidentally. Any of ya'll going to the Fillmore Opeth/Porcupine Tree show? The Pound show in January was smoking.....

While I'm on the subject, I also have tickets to Iron Maiden/Dio/Motorhead in August....as well as Bjork, whose playing right on the bay. Any Sigur Ros fans going to Bjork? You should....

Pardon the ramble

Good for you! You want a cookie or something? I'm going to the Fillmore show too...and I was at the Sigur Ros show....thinking about going to Bjork..

I feel sorry for you seeing Sigur Ros. I saw them here, and it was one of the worst times of my life. They are so absolutely abysmal live, I think I fell asleep a few times or came pretty close. And their opener... Siggi Arman or something like that... was by far the worst singer, worst musician, and worst songwriter that I could ever imagine.

I'm thinking about seeing Opeth with Porcupine Tree in Cleveland, but I'd much rather see Samael with Strapping Young Lad and I don't think I'll be able to get to Cleveland more than once as it is a 3-4 hour drive.

ElectricJizz- I have the 7" Still Day/Patterns vinyl and a signed Blackwater Park cd among other Opeth items. Am I cool too? Have fun at Bjork. BJORK-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA............

Yeah....I probably will go to the In Flames show, but mostly to see Soilwork.....I might have to change my name here, "ElectricJizz" is just so much better than what I came up with; Thanks Aborist.

It is a cool summer for shows though. OH, is anybody going to Ozzfest? I know it's mostly suckass, but I do want to see VoiVod and Manson. Also Ozzy since I understand the setlist is mostly retro stuff. Will be hard to beat seeing Black Sabbath a year or two ago though. Who's going? Who isn't.
Let the ozzfest flame war begin (It sucks etc. etc.)

Lastly...I would have gone to see Metallica at the Fillmore if, well, you know....tickets were hard to come by. But I'll be damned if I'm going to watch them at Candlestick Park. Arena shows are fine, but fucking stadiums? Jesus....Metallica is crazy....of course the rest of the bands on the bill pretty much blow....Nu Metal, all that. Deftones are ok though....

How I do prattle on.....

ElectricWiz-

I was at the pound show in January and also at the Sigur Rós show in Oakland at the paramount theatre, is that the one you're talking about? It was my thread you know :)

Btw, I have my ticket for Opeth/Porcupine Tree already as well. w00t!!! \m/

Yeah....both of those shows are the ones I was referring too. I actually saw Sigur Ros in November too though, at the Warfield. Both shows were awesome. They changed the setlist up a little. But, I will agree with whoever said above here that the opener sucked. In fact, both times I saw Sigur Ros I thought the opening bands were very subpar....especially the Warfield show. Sometimes I wish bands would just skip the opener altogether if they can't get somebody worthwhile. Shows like Opeth/Porcupine Tree, Maiden/Dio/Motorhead are the exception to such rules though.....I'm really psyched about seeing Motorhead, whom I've never seen.....plus Maiden and Dio on the same day....that might be the best bill I've come across yet. Nine Inch Nails/A Perfect Circle was a good one....hmmm.

I've actually seen concerts where the openers were the best, such as Mr Bungle opening for Incubus and System of a Down, Haujobb opening for Velvet Acid Christ, and Hate Dept opening for ohGr. Well, in the first two I listed there were earlier openers who sucked, such as Din_Fiv for Haujobb and Puya for Mr Bungle, but at least some of the openers were better!
