Here's a copy of the original email Michael Cross sent me in June when I requested Safe Home.
I just can't believe that someone from a small station in Iowa would act so Big Time.
"I'm well aware of the song. (I was playing Anthrax on radio in the
mid-80's!) However nationally, radio isn't playing this song and you
can see
that for yourself. Check out the radio industry website
www.radioandrecords.com and on the left side of the site you'll see
'Music
Formats' or 'Charts' - you can click on 'Active Rock' (our format) and
see
what the national picture looks like. You can also see what 70 other
Active
Rock stations in the country are playing by clicking on 'Station
Playlists'
which I believe is underneath the links that list formats. Click on the
playlists, choose the format (Active Rock) and you can then look at
individial station playlists.
I have been a John Bush (lead singer) fan since his days in Armoured
Saint,
but Anthrax simply isn't a viable band in 2003. I think the new album
is
okay and the single isn't bad, but how many people really care about
this
band? How many CD's will they sell? 100,000? If it was something that
70
other rock stations were going to play, then I'd be on it. The truth is
that
maybe a handful of these stations will play it, the record won't go
anywhere
and I'd be wasting a slot that I could have given to a up and coming
new
band instead.
