I kick ass because I beat Lunar 2 last night.

I know that there is at least one Lunar fan 'round these parts. After I complete the Epilogue I'm sure that my Playstation will gather dust for the next 6 months.

(loosely veiled video game thread)

I still believe that Lunar 1 and 2 are the greatest RPGs ever made.. but I think that for the ones on the original Sega CD.. awesome stuff.

I didn't much care for the new PS1 edition.. changed voices.. lame.

Yeah, Lunar 1 and 2 are awesome. I think the Sega CD ones were the best from what I have seen/played. I must admit though that the only one I ever beat, because I mainly only watched my friend play it, was the japense Saturn import of part 1. I didn't like the addition of seeing your enemy before you fight them, I have never enjoyed that as much as straight randomly generated battles. It was still a great game though.

Also, playing all of the way through a RPG is japanese is pretty cool, it is not as hard as one would think it just takes a little more time.

Oh man, that was one of my favorite parts! :)

I have only played the PSX versions, back in the Sega CD days I had a TurboGrafx CD, 'twas better. :loco:

Don't worry, most people will agree with you. This is one of the reasons why I tend to like more old school RPG's instead of the newer ones coming out today trying different things like that. Nothing compares to randomly generated battles IMO, yet almost ever video game reviewer gives an RPG shit because of it these days.

I'm definitely an old school RPGer, but the few games that didn't have completely random battles were so welcomed by me. :) Dragon Slayer on TurboGrafx comes to mind, some places had random battles but other ones you could see your enemy first, I loved that.

The last new RPG that I have bothered to play was Xenogears, new ones don't really do it for me too much.

I love the Lunar games. They're infinitely better than some of the games coming recently.

And interesting you should have that avatar changso, I've just made my way onto the second disc of Chrono Cross. I haven't played this game in years and playing it again makes me wonder why I stopped playing games in the first place.

Lunar indeed kicks serious ass. Unfortunately everyone around here that I know, used to games like FFX, refuse to play Lunar for even a second because of the old graphics. A guy I know actually went around telling everyone how horrible Lunar is when he didn't even play it. He just took one look at the graphics and laughed.

There's a Lunar fan around here? Who? :p
I figured you would find this thread eventually. :)

I love sprites, I don't really care for 3D stuff, especially in RPGs. However, Chrono Cross is still one I would like to pick up, I think Final Fantasy V is next on my list though.
