oh yeah, I mentioned them back in my first post but I should elaborate:

RAGE!!! Check out Unity, Soundchaser, and The Missing Link (and Black in Mind, if you can find it). Unity and Soundchaser have their current "virtuoso" lineup featuring guitarist Victor Smolski and drummer Mike Terrana, so you might like those albums more at first. The new live album, From the Cradle to the Stage, is also a GREAT place to start since its sort of a "sampler" of their whole career (20 years!) but I know some people don't like to start with live albums.

Yes you may be right, but this scale is equivalent of one of the "makams" of "Turkish" music. May be you know, our music consists of many makam variations ( just like modes but not in well tempered system), so the phrigyan dominant has its equivalent in our music and also many different types of it as well. I think the "middle eastern vibe" can be explained this way.
