I originally had WERE...but I figured since that it is a "lawn" and not "lawns", the singular would suffice. I still believe it's WAS. It's like saying "Nevermore are...", when it should be "Nevermore is..." It is a singular object, though made up of multiple entities. Would you say, "My lawn ARE beautiful"? But then again, to say "I wish you were here with me" is correct and not "I wish you WAS here with me". It's a little confusing, and I think the lawn falls into the either/or category in the English language. I hope I never have to explain this to my students.

And I didn't copy and paste it...I just heard it the other day and thought it was funny. Maybe I'm out of the loop b/c it's my first time to hear it, but that doesn't matter. I'm sorry for pissing in all of your Cheerios and just trying to garner a chuckle from some of you and ease some tension in your day. Thought maybe some of you might want to add a few of your own, if you cared to share. Guess not. You guys can continue with ramming the broomstick up my ass.
