that's because most of opeth's music is in a sort of triple metre. it's 3/4, easily counted as 6/8 or some derivitive thereof. so instead of sounding fast, it usually sounds either bouncy or stately.

Opeth are great the way they are... perhaps the most unique metal band I listen to and I'd like it to stay like that even though I love blastbeats.

Yeah...I know what you mean...Opeth is one of the bands I like most, but maybe they would be totally complete for me if they have fast beats sometimes, not always as I said, did you get? Fast beats in the snare drum. They use so much double pedal (or something that sounds like)

Who knows what there is on the next regular album. He said it was super heavy and crazy in parts. If they threw some in and it fit, it might be really good. I just can't picture it.

Though I've been listening to Novembre lately. And actually, a lot of it makes me think of Orchid with better production and blastbeats.
