should i be...?

that guitar could be built for way less than 2k....mabie 12-13 tops..

lets see, hand made body, Jemified (Handle and Lions claw + AANJ), swirled, cleared by swirl guru Herc Fede, $600

Custom Jem neck, to your specs by Chris Woods, (Keep in mind these necks are better than origional Ibanez Jem necks because he does the Volute and top mount nut, so no gay ass cracks) $250

Pickups + Electronics = $200

Bridge + Nut parts = bran new, like 250, used ebay, like $150 tops..

so, 1200 if you do some ebay shoppin for parts..

so, all in all this guitar would be better just from the AANJ point of view.

I think im just gonna find a regular jem in mint condition then get it swirled.

lol, I just do a lot of homework, and I've had many conversations with Herc Fede, and Chris Woods :)

I think your best bet is to not use a mint Jem, but instead use a beater, like that VBK you posted a while ago, or a RG550 body + Jem or Handmade neck, from a collectors point of view, the Beater VBK is junk, just a player guitar, nothing to get worked up about, or care about. But if you refinished it and swirled it, wow, great guitar, and would look mad chill. Plus you know you didn't ruin a perfectly good mint Jem..A new 7VWH goes for about $1800+ new, but that beater VBK was what? like $900ish?, plus about $300-$400 for a swirl, so, $1300 for a cool all Ibanez swirled Jem, not bad ehh? Only downside is you don't get the AANJ, which to some people is a must. Basically what I'm saying is that if you do this to a mint new (or Old) Jem, your actually going to ruin its value, but you wouldn't waste money and a good guitar if you use a beater, infact you might actually make a better guitar. Not everyone likes swirls, theres sorta a love it/hate it thing with them...

I personally don't mind the sculped Jem/550 block heel, its big but still manageable, I also have a old RG450L non-sculpted block heel body that I bought on ebay because it was listed as a 570L, and I couldn't tell in the pics that it was the 470 :( I wanted it for my Jem because I wouldn't have to have a stupid pickgaurd since its rear routed. I think I payed like 45 for it, so no biggie, but the block heel is so fucking huge, its retarded..heres some pics..its to bad too cause I love the Maple and blue on black, so sexy..

heres the guitar, on the 470L body, I love the blue/black

heres the heel, SO FUCKING HUGE no slant, no contours at all..

this is the RG550 body Heel, its basically 1/2 of the old school Jem heel, negligable differences.

now this is a Old School Jem heel, not to bad..(3rd pic down)

and of course the All Access Neck Joint we all love..

well, thats my dillema...

If your wondering the Pickups are Bridge Evo, Neck origional first year (1990) Tone Zone, I will end up putting a dummy pickup in the middle, I never, ever use it.

oh, and sorry about the rambling and or spelling/grammer mistakes, I'm quite hammered right now :headbang:

lol last sentence in that post was by far the best!!! I think im gonna go get a beer now, cheers man!

I see what you mean though about fixing up a beat up guitar instead of swirling a guitar that already nice.
and yea, i love that blue/black inlay on the maple also.

Well, I guess I'm just gonna put it all together with the 470L body, see how it plays, if its too cumbersome, then I'm going to have to use the 550 body and get a new pickgaurd :(

Enjoy the beer! I know I enjoyed my huge ass screwdriver with like 6 shots of vodka in it...Cheers!!!
