Iced Earth / Sabaton / Revamp 2014 Tour

It's been up and down. It used to get a lot of shows. Since it's under an hour from me it's doable even on a weeknight so it's my only option, because no one comes to Baton Rouge ever (except for Steve Vai this Saturday...I'm not asking how, I'm just going). At least Pittsburgh, my likely new home in a few years, fares better.

Ill be at either the St Pete show or the one in orlando! (probably the orlando one)

KILLER PACKAGE! THANKFUL FOR FL DATES! B)

The Worcester date is being lumped into the lame ass New England Metalfest...I 'll have to go late because i refuse to sit through a million shitty metal core bands playing 20 minute sets :hahamiddlefinger:

Well that's...interesting. I wouldn't have thought Sabaton needed to open for anyone these days, or if they did it would be for a much higher profile band.

I haven't gone to a Sabaton headlining show asides from Progpower, but I thought from what I heard they don't draw THAT well. I think it's smart for them to go on this tour.

Crap, couldn't they stop in Charlotte on the 22nd on the way to Atlanta.....

This is an awesome lineup. I agree that Sabaton isn't quite ready to headline a full US tour (except for perhaps bars), so touring with Iced Earth with get them more attention. Plus, ReVamp, whom I've never heard, but I am a fan of Floor's work with After Forever and Nightwish live. I'll definitely be at the Atlanta show, so perhaps I'll see some of you there :)

Agreed. In May of 2012, they packed the Key Club in Hollywood pretty well, but in February of 2013, they drew a decent but not great club to the Yost Theatre in Anaheim. Admittedly, the show at the Yost was 1) really early (over before 9 PM) and 2) on a rainy night, so door attendance probably suffered.

They could probably just do a headlining tour and be fine (perhaps with a strong support band), but doing this tour as a support band will likely yield better long term results. Doing a six week run with Iced Earth will undoubtedly gain them new fans, they can head back to Europe for the summer, then come back for a headlining run in the US in the fall/winter.

The power metal world is littered with bands who tried to take the shortest possible route to headlining in the US and who have ended up suffering because of it. Sabaton is playing a much longer game and I would be surprised if they don't end up reaping the benefits of it down the road.

Couldn't have said it any better myself.
