If Theocracy did a cover song...

Hey Jresch. I happen to know your daughter from ROBLOX! LOL! What a coincidence? I searched Theocracy and she came up and I was like "THEOCRACY FANS UNITE!" and she told me you were her Dad. :headbang: BTW I'm not a stalker I'm only 15. lol.

Yeah, she asked me if I had ever seen Ryan M. post on the Theocracy Forum. It's a small "virtual" world. :)

Since this thread is totally off topic, I may as well contribute!

Does anybody own "Black Clouds and Silver Linings" by Dream Theater?
If so, would you be willing to send me "The Shattered Fortress"?
I'm a bit broke at the moment, but desparate to complete the 12-Step suite....

If anyone is willing to, pm me and I'll give you my email address for you to send it to.
Thanks!

Eh, I like Six Degrees better, though in terms of practically, "Scarred" would probably work better.

Personally, I'd like to see them do The Shattered Fortress from BCaSL. It's a secular song, but many of the lyrics come across as overtly Christian, or at least spiritual.
I'd also like to see something by Iron Maiden... For The Greater Good Of God comes to mind, as does Hallowed Be Thy Name.

FleshAndBlood,do you mean send the mp3?

And I think Hallowed.. is more of a philosophical subject, than religious, but the idea of questioning God's existence is evident, it's like the anthem of agnostics, and still I don't know if Dickinson is Christian or agnostic...

CS Lewis used to question it all the time. It is necessary and usually it just points us back to him and makes us more faithful in the end.

You can definitely be Christian and Agnostic at the same time, since Agnostic just means accepting the lack of sheer evidence and the other possibilities.
Also, The Thin Line Between Love And Hate. "I will hope / My soul will fly / And I will live forever..."

I did, but someone already sent it, but thanks.

Martyr's Crown: Why stop at just The Shattered Fortress? Why not the entire 12-Step saga? ;)

Shattered Fortress is my favorite out of them, that's why, and it's the one with the most overtly religious lyrics :p (I said it had Christian lyrics before, but then I remembered that Portnoy is a non-observant Jew.) Plus if they did the whole saga on a tribute album, that would be 40-50 minutes they could have filled up with other cool covers.

56 Minutes, actually :p

Personally, I think their most CHRISTIAN lyrics are from A Mind Beside Itself, since the entire song is about Petrucci's struggle with faith (Petrucci is a practicing Christian).

I second the idea of Theocracy covering St. Anger.....BUT! in a way that makes the tin-drums sound better (hitting the snare normally) and fixing up the structure (I'd leave that up to the band itself) and of course the vocals have to be much better, but since Math has a high-hitting falsetto he should try a deeper voice or even ask someone to help him in the song.

tl;dr
Make the cover sound a million times better than the original ever could.

falsetto?

I got it! I got it! It would be deliciously ironic if they did a serious cover of... Metallica's St. Anger. :heh:

Actually, I'd have to agree with this. A lot of St. Anger's songs have potential they are just unfinished.

For example, a Theocracy cover of Sweet Amber or Some Kind of Monster could be quite amazing.

After St. Anger's initial release there was a Dream Theater fan who released about 8 covers of St. Anger songs that were slightly remixed with guitar solos and a few of them were flat out amazing (still have them on my play list).
