If Theocracy did a cover song...

knight777 can you post a youtube link?

And Val I could be wrong, since I have no education in the area of music, but it's like when I hear Mat, Tobias Sammet and the dude from Manowar for instance, I would sooner relate the first two, while the third sticks out as a "more solid" voice. :D

I think Theocracy could cover "Awesome God".
.

In my opinion one of the most beautiful songs ever :)

A Theocracized version of this one would be AWESOME !

Actually, I'd have to agree with this. A lot of St. Anger's songs have potential they are just unfinished.

For example, a Theocracy cover of Sweet Amber or Some Kind of Monster could be quite amazing.

After St. Anger's initial release there was a Dream Theater fan who released about 8 covers of St. Anger songs that were slightly remixed with guitar solos and a few of them were flat out amazing (still have them on my play list).

St. Anger is actually my 3rd favorite 'Tallica album, next to Justice and Master, but I can see where you're coming from. The songs from SA that would be best by Theocracy IMO would be Sweet Amber, SKOM, Invisible Kid, or The Unnamed Feeling (especially that last one).

You should put up a link to those remixes (mp3 not youtube)... did the guitar solos fit? I could really see what Kirk Hammet meant when he said that solos just wouldn't go with the rest of the album, after listening to it.

Turns out there are a ton of "remixes" out there on YouTube. I the ones I have are by a guy who went by dtawake who also entered Dream Theater's song writing contest a few years ago.

I think these are the same ones I have are the same as those posted by atrayuMasterHero on YouTube labeled Remix 2007. The song lengths are the same and while the quality is quite as good as the mp3s I have, you can get the idea. Still doesn't "fix" the album and make it good but it does give you a taste of what might have been.

Here's Frantic:

Solo kicks in around 3:30 but I encourage you to listen to the original first. Dtawake didn't just add a solo here and there. He adds dual layer guitars, little rhythm sections, backing guitars, etc... throughout most of the song. The original will feel really empty after hearing this version.

The only one I couldn't find on YouTube is the Some Kind of Monster Remix. That is the best, but roughest production wise. Looks like it got taken down for copyright reasons yet the others remain.

I'd rather not have Theocracy do a cover song. The songs they write are so good I'd much (much much) rather have a new song!

Fundy

That was an interesting listen. I didn't notice much until around 0:50, when the double guitars came in, and the ending section was very good. They didn't fix the drums though, and I didn't like the solo (it sounded different than the rest of the song, and its style just didn't really fit). Other than that it was pretty good.

In other news, I realized the perfect song for Theocracy to do a cover of.

You may be interested in Rich Mullins. He is the original composer of "Awesome God"
I posted the two others 'cause I like them better than this one, but Rich Mullin's "Awesome God" is still a good song :)
A Theocracised song with this melody would be great (a new Theocracy song would be great too) !

If Theocracy did a cover song...
...it should totally be "Renegade" by Styx. What do the rest of you think?

We started with a Styx song and it came back down to Styx in the end, hahaha :D

Oh man, like, 20 things all at one.

First, HI EVERYONE!!! I haven't been on here in ages!

Second, I cannot stress how amazinglyawesomesauce a cover of Metallica's "To Live is To Die" would be.

However, thirdly, I also cannot stress how amazing a cover of THIS would be: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oavMtUWDBTM&NR=1[/ame]
You really *really* need to watch it PAST 16 seconds, too. Don't turn it off before then, lest you lose the best part.

Or this >[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHuIva7PaQE&feature=related[/ame]
If you understand any internet culture significance of this song, don't memebomb this thread, plox.

Fourth! Styx is playing in VA beach with Foreigner and Kansas. I might be seeing them. Just bragging. (still haven't seen Theocazy! (accidentaly misspelled, left anyway. haha))
