im up late tonight. i suffer from insomnia often, and so im trying to come up with a thread topic for me to pass some time right now. so i thought perhaps everyone could list one musician/idol of theirs of each respective desired instrument, what would your dream band (including you) be? they can be deceased as well. and this is assuming in this fantasy world you could play any instrument you desire, for those who arent musicians already. ready, go...

Mikael Akerfeldt - Vocals (death, black, clean)
Me - Lead guitars, rhythm guitars, backing vocals
Neil Peart - Drums
Ihsahn - Rhythm Guitars
some bass player (I don't know many bass players or listen to much music where bass is really prominent so it would be a bit stupid to fill this in). But perhaps I could take bass player as bass player.

Obviously not a very good combination if you'd allow each member to bring his musical ideas, but if I was the head of the band and could make all songwriting decisions then this could be a very nice combination imo.

I think the most important thing for me would be to have artists that are skilled and polyvalent, so that I can write music the way it comes up in my head. If I write music and record it myself I have to compensate for my limited guitar abilities (only been playing -2 years) and for the limitations of the recording software I use. Just being able to make everything nearly the way I would like it to be would be an awesome possibility, and there is a huge amount of musicians out there that could be combined to achieve this. So anyway I think attracting musicians from different subgenres could have a nice effect because I could utilise some typical aspects of each of those subgenres and so have access to a larger spectrum of possibilities in creating the music. etc...

Hmmm... This is harder than "Dream Band" threads because I include myself.

Me - Backing Guitar
Bass - Stanley Clarke
Lead Guitar- Eric Johnson
Vox & Guitar - Richard Thompson
Drums - Carmine Appice
Keys - Keith Emerson

and.....

As the immortal David St. Hubbins always dreamed, The London Symphony Orchestra.

Good thread

Me - vox/guitar
Mike Almighty - vox/guitar
Anna Maria Jopek - vox/choirs
Leszek Możdżer - keys/piano
Zbigniew Namysłowski - sax
Jaco Pastorious - bass
Martin Lopez - drums
George Harrison - sitar (I believe he knew how to play it and I love the sound of this instrument)

ahhhhh... even one jam with this line-up would be a dream come true, then I could die happy

I've listed some polish artists which you might not know. If you'll have the occasion, check them out-it's really worth it!

Mikael Akerfeldt : Vox
Jaymz Hetfield : Rythm Guitars
Marty Friedman : Lead Guitars
Steve Di Giorgio : Bass Guitars
Neil Peart : Drums
Me : Cowbell & Back up vocals

And I would ask Steven Wilson to produce the record.

Jazz/Jazz Rock Edition

Wes Montgomery : Smooth Jazz Soloing
John McLaughlin : Demonic Jazz Rock Licks
Pat Metheny : Anything in between those two
Pastorious Jaco & Victor Wooten : The Master & The Apprentice : Bass Guitars
Dennis Chambers : Drums (Funky Beats)
Vinnie Colaiuta : Drums (Every Thing Else)
Keith Jarrett : Grand Piano
Chick Korea : Electronic Keyboards
Me : Video director for the 10 hours DVD of the musical orgy these monsters would create !

Me - Clean Vox & Stage Diving
Jerry Cantrell lyricist, back-up vox, Lead & Rhythm
Kirk Hammett & Jeff Loomis for solo's only
Mike would do Death Vox, Rhythm & Bluesy Solo's
Josh Silver on Keyboards
Mendez on bass
Lopez on the skins

More of a project than a jam session...

Oinkness - guitars, "layered vocal", donuts
metal_wrath - guitar

sorry...

Me - bass (too many good guitarists to put me on guitar)
Guitars - David Gilmour, Johnny Marr
Drums - Neil Peart
Vocals - Jeff Buckley

Ask me on a different day and it'll be something different. Except Oinkness - he's a no-brainer, so to speak.

Best line-up EVER! Roflcopter.

I dunno, it would depend on what kind of band I wanted, and what instrument I wanted to play. David Gilmour would be on my list. Danny Carey probably would be too. Maybe Tori Amos on Keys. Thom Yorke, perhaps. Maybe Beth Gibbons. I dunno, it's a hard question.
