If you could resurrect one metal god...

Which metal musician would you resurrect?

LOL

pantera hadn't released anything decent since 1996 (great souther trendkill, which is a very good album that is underrated), there was very little chance that they would unite. Damageplan was/is garbage

I don't see what more dimebag could have possibly done

I still believe he is overrated and was merely at the right place at the right time to provide a musical voice for the masses, kinda like Bob Dylan, whom I feel similarly about.

 I'd never thought of that. I like that parallel!

I find Bob Dylan's music thoroughly uninteresting, except from perhaps a '60s history perspective.

Exactly. While it's enlightening to see how each one inspired an entire generation of musicians (many of whom turned out to be great songwriters and produced enjoyable tunes), both of them I find to be boring from both an objective view and a listener's view.

Dime hands down for me. Imagine what he would have done if he still were alive?
.. died in the hands of some other psycho?

Anyway, in all seriousness, Pantera IMO never released more than one good album. The one with the guy being punched on the cover is massively overrated. Schuldiner's 'Control Denied II' could have been somewhat interesting to listen to.

This might be a strange answer but I'd like to mention these two to our 'list':

> Jimi Hendrix. This guy had a dozen more albums in him. I respect him for what he's released under his belt in the past.
> John Bonham. Zeppelin's drummer. I've personally always wanted some more Zeppelin material than I have on my shelf.

Regardless not hearing all of Quorthon's bathory albums would say him. It's pretty obvious he's the biggest influenced on dark extreme music which I believe represents the genre. It was not easy for me to get into Bathory because the raw production that eventually clicked. The Return,Under The Sign Of The Black Mark, and Blood Fire Death are easily the most extreme albums from the 80's. I would also resurrect Jon from dissection.

Dimbebag and Chuck have nothing on these guys.

Not after he became Mata Kali's desciple. I hate that song.

It's not a bad song. I prefere the rest of the album over it despite the album not being classic like the first two. I think Jon just needed to get back in mode and the follow up would have been much better. Everyhing seemed knew to the guy again almost like he was put right back at the beginning.
